Early Heavy Rock

Forums:

Saw a living relic from the first wave of British heavy metal last night - Uriah Heep.   What the aging rockers lacked in youthful good looks and contemporary hits they made up for in spades with sheer volume.  By far, the loudest show I have seen at the Aladdin Theater and my ears are still ringing.   It was straight out of Spinal Tap, but the crowd was hanging on every note and appeared to know every lyric as they slammed through their greatest hits with a few new heavier numbers thrown in here and there.   Was surprised that there were so many Heep fans out there.

Anyway, I really like the heavy rock of the 1968 - 1975 era and would like to catch a few more of these acts (I hear BOC is good) before they disappear.  Would also like to check out any younger acts that have that same classic proto-heavy metal sound.

I'm looking forward to the upcoming Deep Purple/Judas Priest tour. No Blackmore or John Lord but Gillian,  Glover and Paice will still bring it.
