Tangerines are awesome!

One of the best.

Used to go to this place as a kid in the early 70's and pick kumquats from the trees there as it was across from my Elementary school. https://www.laparks.org/horticulture/orcutt-ranch

Justice street Elementary Rules! Was very environmental conscious in the late 60's and later.

Still looks the same and remember in the early 70's where students and parents would bring in bundles of newspapers and they would be stacked up high down the street to be recycled.

And Jeff KIng in 1973 in 4th grade who showed me a bag of weed on the playground. Many there smoked as it was Cali at that time. I did'nt inhale till 1977 in the Florida Keys.

I handed out oranges to many heads at east coast shows in the late 80s early 90s.

Everyone now calls it the Citrus bowl, and you can't spell Citrus without UT, but it will always be the T Bowl to me.

Orange Blossom Special - Old and in the Way - 11/4/73

{{{Vassar}}}

Just got a bag of ugly navel oranges from the neighbor. They were so sweet and heavy. Went straight into our Negra Modelos.

I got handed a few oranges in those years, China-Rider.   If that was you, thanks man, those were refreshing treats.

 Louis XIV of France had a great love of orange trees, and built the grandest of all royal Orangeries at the Palace of Versailles.[41] At Versailles potted orange trees in solid silver tubs were placed throughout the rooms of the palace, while the Orangerie allowed year-round cultivation of the fruit to supply the court. When Louis condemned his finance minister, Nicolas Fouquet, in 1664, part of the treasures which he confiscated were over 1,000 orange trees from Fouquet's estate at Vaux-le-Vicomte.

my favorite author tackled this subject

Oranges was first conceived as a short magazine article about oranges and orange juice, but the author kept encountering so much irresistible information that he eventually found that he had in fact written a book. It contains sketches of orange growers, orange botanists, orange pickers, orange packers, early settlers on Florida's Indian River, the first orange barons, modern concentrate makers, and a fascinating profile of Ben Hill Griffin of Frostproof, Florida who may be the last of the individual orange barons. McPhee's astonishing book has an almost narrative progression, is immensely readable, and is frequently amusing. Louis XIV hung tapestries of oranges in the halls of Versailles, because oranges and orange trees were the symbols of his nature and his reign. This book, in a sense, is a tapestry of oranges, too—with elements in it that range from the great orangeries of European monarchs to a custom of people in the modern Caribbean who split oranges and clean floors with them, one half in each hand.
