Edie Brickell & the New Bohemians Tour

Forums:

Just picked up tix to see them at the Crystal Ballroom next month.  Never seen them before and understand its been a while since they last toured.

Wonder if she needed to get out of the house now that Paul Simon is retiring from touring (his last gig is tomorrow).

The guitar player sure had the Garcia sound down in that video they had on MTV.

Guitar player used to play lead guitar in ForgotteN Space.

Didn't she give Paul a resounding bitch slap a few years back?

Maybe worth seeing.

They played Summerstage in 2006, and I got this.

Review when I'm on a laptop.

The only time I saw them was on Summer 90 GD tour. Don't know if they did the whole run but they opened the few shows that I saw.

Saw them at the tower theater, could have been 89. That was a fun weekend at the tower,  new bohemians, third world and the violent femmes

Chicago, at 9 hours away, is the nearest show to me.

I hope they add some dates.

Like Nashville, or even better, Memphis.

What I  Am is one of those songs that puts me in a time and place. Heard this set from the parking lot but never saw them

Edie Brickell and New Bohemians are friends of mine from the Dallas/Deep Ellum area and they will be releasing their new album "Rocket" October 12, 2018. The band will be performing a hometown record release party October 11 at the Granada Theater in Dallas, TX. After that they will be doing a short US tour with more dates to be announced early next year. Aside from the local show I'll be in San Francisco and plan on attending the October 22 at the Fillmore. I spoke with lead guitarist Kenny Withrow tonight and he said they are all super excited about this upcoming tour and playing new music for the fans. If they come to your town go check them out, you won't be disappointed.

>>>>>30 minute Interview with Edie Brickell

Is this available in HD mini movie format?

Matt Hubbard playing keys! Otherwise I don't get it. I know she had a mainstream hit in the 90s(?) otherwise I know nothing about her and the band. I saw Forgotten Space once and they brought her out and she did at least 2 of her own songs...not really sure how many but it was enough to make me leave the shoe.

All I can ask is “why?”

You clearly haven't heard the new album, Woz. Try it, you'll like it.

Did you miss the live Broadcast of 'Morning Dew'? You can still hear it by tuning in to our 24/7 Archival Streaming Podcast Player:

...

Thanks for posting that interview, EW.

Lots of good stuff in there, like new material and a track from the Edie collab w/ Wasserman and Jerry.

Saw them on a double bill with John Hiatt & the Goners at the Beacon.  Think it was an 'NEW-FM Xmas show.  Probably '90.  They were great.  Tight, yet loose.

Show last night was great and what a change of pace from the frenetic MC50 show the previous evening.   They played a single, hour and forty-five minute set which was about half new material and half old stuff.   There was some modest jamming, but nothing too out there and Edie and her six piece band were generally good about making every note matter.   Really liked Kenny Withrow's guitar sounds.  Cat can play.

Strangest thing is that the room was less than half full and I can't recall a show at the Crystal that was so lightly attended (usually the way oversell it).  Not sure why, but the people who were there were very appreciative and mellow good vibes were flowing freely.   Highest chick to dude ratio I have seen at a show in a long time.

I don't know why I have a big interest in this, but I do.  Just picked up two 6th row center tix for Thursday.  22 bucks a piece.

Was listening to a show on the archive last night and it quit halfway through (file not loading thing).  I'll give it another shot later.

Because she's good and the price isn't bad?  I saw her play a small club in Chicago years ago and also with the Steep Canyon Rangers.
