Elmhurst Queens and Mets Games Questions

Forums:

Hey kids. So, my pops recently moved to Elmhurst Queens, right in the middle of foodie heaven.  Unfortunately, it is going to take him a while to adjust to being surrounded by adventurous asian food, but I did find him a banh mi shop that he's cool with. Any other suggestions, especially near Broadway and 45-51st Ave?  More importantly, I see that it's a pretty easy trip to see the Mets from there.  He's more of a Yankees guy, but if it's easy, he just likes baseball.  Unfortunately, the days of cheap seats for day games seem to be over and the only ones in his price range seems to be promenade outfield.  Nose bleeds obviously, but OK for an old dude who just wants to take in the ambience of a ball game?  Any other secrets to getting decent seats cheap, things to avoid, etc?  Wish I were there to take him to games, but 3K is a long way to travel (next year, I hope).  Any other Queens tips?  He likes movies and jazz and wishes there was an "american" grocery store closer to him.

As badly as the Mets are tanking right now, StubHub will be flooded with cheap Met tickets that people can't even give away.
