I haven't broken into it yet. Too much going on and I usually load everything into my digital library before I start to listen and play the CDs in the car. However friends are already telling me the stuff is good.
Honestly I've skipped all the packaged shows (basically the last Dick's Picks I bought was in 1999) because I have all the shows digitally, but there have been moments when I've thought, "having those officially engineered with the nice packaging might look good on the shelf", then I saw the price tags and kept walking.
I'll probably regret that, but then again, one day I'll be dead and I won't care.

Lager, I felt the same for the first couple/few years of the post-Jerry official release series.
I missed the download series, the Road Trips series, and finally custied up a couple years into the Dave's Picks series.
I realized how nice it was to have copies that are thoughtfully optimized and packaged.
They also STILL encode all the GD releases in HDCD (probably the only ones still using this?).
I got a used high-end HDCD player a few years ago for like $150, so I could enjoy 20bit quality playback that all the releases offer.
I then went full-bore, and decided to catch up while I could.
With some strategic purchasing and flipping on ebay, I managed to gather all the releases I had missed.
From that point on, I have simply purchased 2 copies(occasionally more) of every official release as they come out.
Granted, I am not rich, and I'm a shitty money manager.
Sometimes the weird box sets don't sell out for a couple years, so I have to sit on them.
But with GD at least, I have managed to fund all of my collection by selling copies to less savvy collectors.
It's so strange how something can be available for list price for 3 years, but as soon as it's sold out, there are folks who wanna pay all this extra just to snag a copy.
FOMO sells.
I should have bought more than one extra Enjoying the Ride, but at $600 a pop, I just got one for me and one to sell.
With only 6,000 copies produced, I should have guessed it would sell out before release.
I did manage to get $1649 for my extra on ebay. After fees, shipping, etc, I cleared over 1300. So paid for my copy, plus shipping, and a lil gravy.
I guess my only point was that you can get all the releases for free, with a little work.
It strikes me that these are the same lot-economics that people used to fund tour life by selling other things.
