Europe 74

Forums:

We've all heard hours upon hours of Europe 72 but did anything ever get released from the 74 tour as part of a set?

Seems like I've read that even though the boys were no stranger to coke in 74 that it started to get out of control around the time they were in Europe. Perhaps some opiate use creeping in as well. I know it's not a highly regarded tour in the big picture but I assume every show was recorded.

Some nice playing on that tour, here's a stretch I like;  playin (23mins) > seastones(41mins) > eyes (31mins)

Dick Latvala talking to David Gans on the GD Hour on the release...

"Dark Star" - Jesus Christ, we got 44 1/2 minutes or something, through "Morning Dew."  I heard a lot of material that was good, and it has just a definitive jam of "Dark Star" > "Morning Dew" that's gorgeous, I mean, unreal.

DP 7 has selections from the three Alexandra Palace shows. There are some other releases from 74 but not from Europe.

Apparently the coke issue became so fraught with drama that "all" coke stashes were burned in a bonfire of sorts.

Oops - Emilyed.

The band did illicit substances? Really? Who knew.

"quick hide your stash but put a little bindle in the fire to make it look like you tossed it all out" was probably closer to the truth in this tale.

I remember reading that during soundcheck in maybe Paris Jerry got all pissed off because someone stole his stash.

I am shocked.  Shocked I tell you.  Wait until the word gets out to the press.

Sep 18th from Paris was released in the 30 Years Around the Sun Box Set
