FFS I Need An Account To Order Takeout?????

Forums:

Local place no phone orders, they used to take calls for takeout but now require an online account (no one time guest option).

Fuck you, I'm not creating an "account" to gey a fucking burger. You no longer have my business.

You just lost access to a customer who actually like your product.

FUCK YOU!!!!!

And get off my lawn! Hahaha I really don't have one!!!

End of rant.

That was after I attempted to order online, they want me to set up an account to pay at checkout.

No cash option either. Please always try to pay in cash, otherwise your dollar become less than $1.00 every time a transaction occurs.

$1.00-> $0.95-> $0.90-> 0.85->. . . . . . . . . . . . until $0.00.

Think about it.

Every restaurant around here seems to been using doordash for online ordering even if you're picking up. I usually call instead because I don't like supporting doordash. Lots of places don't even do phone orders anymore because doordash overwhelms their kitchen with to go orders. When I go to pick up food I ordered there's always one or two "dashers" trying to cut the line to pick up orders.

Me -> Food

That's all I ask!

You need it to liiiiiiiive

Takeout is even more depressing if you know how and enjoy cooking well.
But I get it, sometimes you just don't feel like cooking...

I wouldn't order from them either if they required an account.

There's a restaurant in my town that takes phone orders for take-out, but they want payment over the phone when the order is taken, and that just doesn't sit well with me.

I approve of this rant!!!

Takeout with the "tip" options... that pop up? Tip for what??? Handing me a bag of food? You made me create an account and fill the form out and pay in advance. I should get a discount for going automated!

What about restaurants? Yeah, sometimes you don't feel like cooking, but I expect that when I go out, the food will be at least as good as what I can make. Unfortunately, around here that's often not the case. In order to get good food apparently you need to pay up the nose.

And don't even talk to me about service!

Every restaurant around here seems to been using doordash for online ordering even if you're picking up.

i would be suspicious of inflated prices having to use doordash or uber eats. ive never used either service or any kind of delivery app, but ive read up a bit on some of the shady stuff associated with these apps, like ghost kitchens, or in this case one of the ways the company makes money being slightly higher prices vs what the restaurant actually charges, in addition to whatever stated fees they tell you youre paying for. you'd think this would be limited to people actually using the delivery service, but idk...

No phone orders seems strange, but especially if you like the restaurant the old fashioned way should still work; go into the restaurant, place your to-go order face-to-face and wait for it.

As for DoorDash and the like, I used them during the pandemic but it always took forever and the food always arrived lukewarm at best. When I do carry out now I'm much happier just schlepping it myself.

I'm actually surprised people still use them.

Maybe. Just don't sit down! Waiting a half hour for cold food and a story from the server about how slammed they've been with phone orders is quickly becoming the new dining out.

#2 the lil credit card reader at the table that you pay from

#3 the dreaded QR code menu/app on the table

Ok zones programmers

design an app that links you to all the restaurant apps so I do not need an app for every food place I eat at taking up space on my phone

All of these are a far cry from the glory days of  Ass, Gas, or Grass, no one eats for free...

All I wanted was a Pepsi

Orders not paid for & not picked up, phony orders placed...

Problems solved

We had a layover at JFK and went to some restaurant to eat. Someone pointed to a table for us to sit at, and we needed a QR code to see the menu and to create an account to order. The system was all fucked up and it took 15 minutes to create the account.

Someone finally dropped off the food. We couldn't order water and nobody checked to see if everything was okay with the meal (which it wasn't). I then got a text asking if I wanted to add a tip. Fuckin' 2025...

Being in the industry for quite sometime now I disapprove of all of this chit mon

This is why, when I'm in SF at the end of this month, I'm excited to go to my fav old-school restaurant in North Beach,Trattoria Contadina, where I don't have to eat in takeout containers or order at the counter.  Already holding reservations!

Online systems mostly suck, except for certain situations when you know the in-person line will be maddening....

if i had a place, no phone orders...of course i probably wouldn't be in business...

chaps my hide when you wait in line for a long time, get up to the counter and they take a phone order in front of you....dude, i'm here, trying to give you my money....
