The fish tacos at the stand on the Ventura Pier are pretty killer.

if you do battered and deep fried fish, heston blumenthals recipie for fish and chips is great and would be applicable to most any fried fish dish. it calls for getting a charge of nitrous in a whipped cream canister to aerate the batter, but its still great without that part if you dont have one available. id guess most zoners either dont have one, or if they do, its probably no longer food safe due to years of loving use.

I think that's my brother-in-law's favorite gas station on earth, too.

They used to have shows there outside on Wednesday nights. Butter definitely played as did blue turtle seduction, mother hips and a few others and the upper parking lot would literally rage all night afterwards until the sun came up

Y'know I keep wondering is there any subculture more both bizarrely lame/also weird than The Grateful Dead subculture and then I read, like, "what's your favorite gas station" and - simply put - the quest continues.

Those were the best fish tacos I ever had.  Grilled Ono, not fried. With a very spicy salsa.  And that fried cheese....
