The fit bit watch

Forums:

Does anyone have one.  If so how cool are they?  My son is asking for one, ane he is still eleven.  I don't really see him using it for anything but a status symbol at school.  What you think

Zoners?

Todays 11 is yesteryears 19, get him the watch.

They are kind of expensive.  He has a long list.  A new scope for his deer rifle, a couple of video games, and he is growing so fast a lot of clothes.  Bottom line is he is not getting all of it.

I don't tink he would like the fit bit that much.  Can you watch videos on it, or play a video game on it?  If not he will discard it soon.

I have a fitbit watch, Tulsa.

I have the Fitbit Flex, which is pretty minimal on what it actually does: https://www.fitbit.com/shop/flex

It basically has a serious of lights, but it monitors my sleep and my steps per day. That's it.

Now, my work provided these at only $10, so I bought one. However, even these simple ones range from 79.95 from Fitbit directly to $99.95 at the local mall. I would never drop that kinda cash on one, especially for a 11 year old. I can't see why a kid would really want one unless they are rabidly trying to walk for fitness.

My 10 y.o. boy wants one, too. Isn't getting it, but a lot of his friends have it. I think status symbol is about right, as I don't think these kids are tracking their workouts. I'm supporting his love of music instead by getting those Beats wireless headphones he also wanted.

Thanks guys you just made up my mind.  No fit bit for my son.  He only works out at karate, and gym in school.  He would rather have a video game.  No he is not obese.  Thanks again.

Get him an iWatch so he can one up everyone at school.

He would love that Slacker, but my pockets are not that deep right now.  :(    He has a Kindle fire, X box one, and many, many games.  Plus the sporting gear, and a nice 30.30.  I am getting

him a scope for the gun.

Get him some awesome weapons like a Mace on a chain or an Afghani assassin dagger. Or else just a Harbor Freight machete that you grind on the dull edge so it has twice the effective slashing power.

Disco stu he is also getting a nice bow, and a table chess set from my dad.  How much do they really need.  This shit isn't cheap.

>> Mace on a chain

Isn't that a Morning Star, Stu? Harbor Freight is a great idea to fill the stockings with Cheap Stuff and Dull Blades. Do you get H.I.M. files and rasps for pedicures there? I wouldn't trust their chainsaws.

You never it was a choice, if he has other things on his list ask him to narrow down the list if you can't afford all of it.

My son's first comment when my work gave us fitbits was:

"a kid at school just said that his fitbit showed that he masturbated for 5 miles last night"

lol!!!!!!!!

Yep Fog he has a list.  Sorry I didn't put that in the original post.  The problem is all the advertising these days.  Hell of course they want it all.  He is a good kid, when it comes to not

acting like an ass if he doesn't get everything.  Tonight we are going to have a serious talk about THE LIST.

Have him ask Mommy for the fit bit. Good to hear he won't have a shit fit if he doesn't get a fit bit.

That was funny Fog.

I don't have cable nor regular television and haven't for mostly 20 or so years. When we watch stuff, its always been through the internet, like Netflix. I have so little time that this works best. I never think about out until around Christmas. My three children don't see the commercials cause they use netflix to watch stuff. They've never grown up with commercials and believe it or not, they actually have pretty minimum Christmas lists. Thank God!

I do like Harbor freight for certain items which they have cheap and decent quality (tarps). Or if they have the el-crappo angle grinders on sale for 15-20 bucks, perhaps you need a few for a project as you'll be using a few different abrasive discs and don't want to spend time changing the heads.

When someone mentions files & rasps, I like decent brands (Nicholson) and you might luck out and find them at China Freight. Their fake Honda engines are supposedly OK. I need a 5-6 hp horizontal-shaft for a lawn chipper, it's 100 there w/ coupon. Stuff like trailer lights or hitches are super cheap.

Thanks Chris..

Stu, if you ever run across a good deal on canvas tarps let me know, one can't have too many of those.

My MD told me not to wear one at all hours, as they screw up your body's energy fields. Energy medicine is a thing, and my Dr. went back to Harvard to study integrated medicine (variety of alt-med disciplines)
