Fleetwood Mac tonight

Forums:

Seeing Mick Fleetwood and Co. tonight at the Rose Garden.   They have Petty's guitarist, Mike Campbell, and Crowded House frontman, Neil Finn, sitting in for the recently sacked Lindsey Buckingham.  John and Christine McVie are still with them too, along with Japanese percussionist Taku Hirano.

I imagine it will be a night of greatest hits.

was thinking of going too. Don't have a ticket yet, but I noticed it is not sold out and there are a smattering of tickets available throughout venue. Bet an enterprising soul could get a good seat at a great price out front come 8:00 PM.

Did you go down there Wngfan?   Place ended up being packed, with no empty seating I could see.

Not a huge Fleetwood Mac fan and went with no expectations.  It exceeded those expectations and was an impressive show.  Stevie Nicks took the stage and was transformed into Morgana stepping out from the mists of Avalon.   She owned it.   Stevie looked really healthy and energetic, although her voice was starting to show a little weathering, especially when she talked.   The rest of the classic crew (Mick Fleetwood and the McVies) were in fine form too.

I can see why they recruited Neil Finn and Mike Campbell to replace Lindsey Buckingham.  Finn bears a passing resemblance to Buckingham (at least from the nose bleeds) and handled the male front person parts well.  He also serenaded the arena with Crowded House's 1987 soft rock hit "Don't Dream its Over."

Campbell was the real treat of the night.  Dude can shred and their three forays into Peter Green heavy blues rock material gave him opportunity to spread his wings.   There were several hard rocking, groovy jams and Mick Fleetwood and Taku Hirano did a tastefully trippy drumz thing.   They also had another guitarist and keyboard player and two backup singers in the shadows to round out the sound and ensure everything stayed in key.

Stevie also brought out her fan club and the show had about a 60-40 chick to dude ration.  Surprising thing was how young much of the audience was.  At least half the crowd was younger than 30 and many of the young ladies were barely on the edge of seventeen, seriously.

Sounds like fun! No, I did not go.  My wife and I thought about it, but with fees, the lowest priced tickets were $83 a piece and off on the side and behind the stage. So we figured it would easily be a $300 to $400 evening after drinks and dinner, and did not want to go badly enough. Instead we went out to a nice dinner closer to home in Sellwood and spent half as much. Sounds like fun though and I am sure we would have enjoyed it if we had gone.

Mike Campbell is a treasure, so many tasty riffs in support of the Heartbreakers, he and Benmont added so much to TP’s songs, just pure pop gold. thanks for the review

Looks like I'm going tonight in San Jose.

I've seen them a few times, have never been overwhelmed and I'm not a big fan in general, especially of Stevie Nicks, but it's an easy ticket, it'll be a very good seat and it's close by so what the hell, I'm going to the show.

Nice post fabs

Mike Campbell rips, petty had him in harpo Marx mode, but he get do things other guitar players can not.

The song refugee is not an easy song to play and showcases some techniques that are exclusive to Mike cambell.

Lindsay can not be replaced for the same reason

Stevie nicks just crushes me

Fleetwood Meh

I heard Mike is focusing on the Peter green era mac & has played Oh Well.

Accurate

The  love hate dynamic was always more than palpable

and I couldn't ever quite get "there" due to a number of factors

laugh if you wish, But Stevie twirling ethereal magic flowing images of a goddess are dear to my heart and by far the highlight of the show

missed the first song but did get a $40 floor seat and parked for free so it was almost worth it

 Long live Stevie Nicks
