Friends of the Devil - April 1978

Great run... think I'm over the big GD boxes tho

these codes will knock off 30$

Until they add tax and shipping.

It's still 30$ less

Even with the discount, they're still quite a bit more than the upcoming 1974 Dylan box set.

Dylan: $5.65/CD for 27 CDs ($152.51)
GD: $10.53/CD for 19 CDs ($199.98)
GD w/discount: $8.95/CD for 19 CDs ($169.98)

I see they're selling the 3 CD Duke show in addition to the box set. Forget the recording, I'd want a HQ DVD to watch Jerry do windmills during Trucking.

Also re the thread title ...it's Friend of the Devils, not Friends of the Devil... seems to be a nod to the Rhythm Devils born here(as well as maybe the Blue Devils of Duke?) also I get the idea from the video that the box is either going to be a drium or will have one enclosed within it

Sorta weird that the FLAC digital downloads are the same price as the CD box set, whereas the ALACs are cheaper. I wonder if that's a typo.

Thanks for the correction on the title.  The cover looks like it could be be a drum skin.  I ordered.

The US Blues from Duke is out on the streaming sites.

These are great shows...

Well Lemieux talked me into it

Meh.

Pretty lame

It's a reasonable choice, we've gotten most of 76 and 77. This is a good chunk of some of the bands best playing, post hiatus, thats  still unreleased. Plus Wolf back in full action. Last couple boxes covered my sweet spot era so it only makes sense that this wouldn't be... what I'd really like is a big box of 78 JGB to go with

85 anniversary up next year so get yer groans ready for that one too

Thanks for the promo code.  Washington State Sales Tax is over 10%, so my total was $204 and change after the discount.  Looks like it will be an interesting package.

>>> what I'd really like is a big box of 78 JGB yes

Most if not all of those betty boards were already available for free download.

Yep and these will sound better as has been the case with almost everything they've done

> Sorta weird that the FLAC digital downloads are the same price as the CD box set, whereas the ALACs are cheaper.

Buy the ALACs, convert them to FLACs and save $40. With the discount, you'd be down to $129.98, which seems reasonable for a digital download.

Just a heads up that the download links are not working.

I got an email saying "Digital Download is Here" but the download link results in some XML error message. It appears multiple customers, maybe all, are having this problem. I contacted support and received a confirmation. Not a big deal, but sorta lame-o.
