I tuned in Fox News for a couple of minutes yesterday afternoon to see how they were covering the Chauvin verdict. Brit Hume was falling all over himself trying to explain how much progress had already been made on race relations in the US long before yesterday's decision.

We have this technology that enables people to communicate and share ideas and people use it to enrage and divide. Fox is not alone. Most websites are for profit. They depend on views for revenue. Keep the people outraged. It's our new culture.

I see it in headlines every day. Just the choice of words.

Mocked.

Tuckers meltdown.

Kimmels feud.

Hillary

Obama

The family who shall not be named. 

I don't even click anymore.

People have learned to live in a house that is on fire and they've come to like it.

Yeah, Fox News is the worst modern day example of tabloid trash yellow "journalism" that peddles fear and manufactured outrage in exchange for advertising dollars.  They are quite good at it.

I sometimes waste time going onto Fox News' comments section and trolling the racists and MAGA nuts.  If you want to see that all school ugly bigotry is alive and well, check out those comments.  Unbelievable.   And they go crazy when I post excerpts from the New Collosus poem ("Give me your tired, your poor,Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free . . .") on stories about immigration or when I explain how Portland is actually still a nice, fully functioning town with people working and going about their normal activities.   I get bitched out a lot and my posts are often flagged as being inappropriate even though they are usually 100% positive (while ugly posts about "pavement apes" seem to be perfectly fine).  I suspect I will get banned some day for being positive and pointing out how the world is not as scary and dangerous as Fox News wants people to believe.  

Don't turn it on and watch it and you won't be bothered by it. Try it, it really works.

You would think that at some point Republicans would start modifying their stances to attract more blacks, and others of color instead of tampering with voting laws, and other trickery, and hate speak. Until then insurrection is always going to be in play. Maybe their alliance with Russia will also play in the cards. I still think Trump peddled the assistance of Russia in the elections and some of the Party bought in, and that is why they cannot separate from him. 

CNN and MSNBC spew just as much advertorial garbage, just from different viewpoint. CNN might be the worst of all in the sense that some people actually regard the network as a substantive news organization. Its frightening how many Americans structure their myopic worldviews from these 3 cable wastelands.

On the bright side, younger people watch less and less traditional TV with each passing day, so there is hope they won't be completely brainwashed like so many Boomers. 

I applaud the infiltration via Ken and nedb....just don't spend too much time being frustrated;  maintain humor while in the midst of idiocracy.

Um, the shit they get from social media is just as bad, if not worse. Take a look at the stuff that our very own millennials post. Although they think it's "real" and "facts," because they are woke and didn't hear it on the enemy, the MSM, most of it is more asinine than the shit the news junkies spew.

A lot of woke folk appear to have a tendency for reductive thinking, and seem to prefer catch-phrases and slogans that overgeneralize and stereotype their opposition, rather than taking a more nuanced and well-reasoned stance. "Blue MAGA" is one example that we've seen around here a lot, although not recently.

I got into it with some of them on Reddit this morning (in the NYT Spelling Bee sub of all places) about the abbreviation ACAB (all cops are bastards) by pointing out that it's not accurate; some cops are not bad.

Ken, most of the deputies up where I live seem to prefer the peacekeeper model over law enforcement. Granted, I live in a small town, but on numerous occasions I've seen them try to mediate conflicts rather than just slapping cuffs on people and throwing them on the ground, or worse, and try to be instructive about the proper way to act. I've also known a few cops who I would say are not part of the problem.

I don't know. He was a pretty angry cop. He hated just about everybody he encountered in Sparta, and he admitted that he was driven by his hatred to bring the powerful white racist Endicott down.

It could be argued that while being systemically racist, Chief Gillespie was the "better" cop in that movie.

The polarization and click-bait editorialization has seeped into everything. Fox News is the undoubtedly the Babe Ruth of this particular format but the horse is out of the barn, not only with their vulgar competing cable networks but also across almost all media formats and genres. Even something as longstanding and supposedly non-partisan as the Associated Press, has a strange and subtle political methodology to their releases. The list goes on and on.

At least to my eyes and ears, the issues go way beyond Tucker Carlson ranting and raving his way to the top of the ratings board. If Fox News was dismantled tomorrow, it wouldn't make an iota of difference. 

Carlson just opening up with his racism.  Va gov candidate Chase, leading the Q party polls, says the verdict "sickened her".

They are not even hiding it, MAGAt playbook all the way but the baby Q 's are much worse.

When they show you who they are believe them.
