Looks like nothing is going to happen

Just before bassist Phil Lesh died (or, as Weir likes to say, “checked out”) in October 2024, the four bandmates were discussing reuniting in honor of the Dead’s 60th anniversary this year. Now that Lesh is gone, Weir isn’t so sure.

"I suppose I could go back out. I wouldn’t put anybody in [Phil's] place, so it would be a trio at this point. It’d be me and two drummers. I’d have to think about that. I haven’t thought about it — it’s just now occurring to me that it’s a possibility that we could do that, since you asked.… I guess we’ll just see what the three of us can pull together."

It's Dead

It would be like The White Stripes except with 2 drummers. As if Bob's tone wasn't abrasive enough with a full band.

I've seen The White Stripes. It would be nothing like that, Jack & Meg were a full-on frontal assault.

Bobby, not.

No thank you

First I have to say what a horrible interview. I'm really surprised that Bobby doesn't have a pre condition that you can't ask yet again about how Jerry died, blah blah blah. Bob has got to be so tired of that and it has been covered a million times.

It's typical Bobby to think that him and the drummers would be interesting but I'm a hard no on that. He talked about the next generation of people playing the music why not make GD 60 about them. Bring them all out, DSO, JGB, JRAD, The Company, and Graham and all the friends - then have Bob, Mickey and Bill sit in here and there. Do five shows at MSG and five shows at Chase in SF. I would go to that. Instead of GD 60 you can call it the Corpse Humper Tour.
