Still not sure if I'll pull the trigger, but I signed up for the presale.

Thanks for the info.

Missed the Ripples on the previous tour.

What's a Genesis ticket running these days?

That's a heck of a copy and paste job, doolittle. Your first time?

^It is what it is Mikey. That's how it happened in the moment. Had no reason at the time to correct it. The corrected link is good enough.!

Turn It Off Again

Yawn, Phil Collins has not aged like fine wine.

Chester Thompson>>>

read a great interview recently

I might pay $331. if Jerry jumped out of the grave (OK-I would), but that's about it.

Genesis? C'mon, man. Out of curiosity, is Peter Gabriel in on this?

Some of the worst lyrics in RnR history

No Thanks

When they add Peter Gabriel to the reunion, I'll think about tickets.

^^i was that "Peter Gabriel is Genesis" guy for many years. Until I realized that the era from when he left until Hackett left was really the sweet spot. I'd rather see Hackett in the lineup more then Gabriel

January 10th, 1973 Bataclan Club - Paris, France

It’s the most pristine video of a Peter Gabriel-era show that has ever been seen by the public

I would argue that the era from when Hackett joined until Hackett left was the sweet spot.

If you ever get the chance, check out the world's best Genesis tribute 'The Musical Box', (unofficially) endorsed by former Genesis members - Hackett has even sat in with them a few times. They've been together 20+ years and the lead singer sounds exactly like 70's Peter Gabriel. Hard to believe, but I was pretty blown away when I saw them a couple of years ago, and I've been a Genesis/Gabriel fan since the 80's. They did material from 1977 backwards to 1969, but I think the post-Gabriel stuff was instrumentals. They had the original photo slides from the '75 Lamb tour, and the Foxtrot costume, among other things.

There goes my hope of a Mike & the Mechanics reunion.

What SocalBill said, looking forward to hopefully catching some more Hackett shows in the not too distant future.

GENESIS "Selling England By The Pound - Complete Live Edition" NEW !!

Great stuff here!
I looked at presale pricing for the upcoming tour. No thank you!

Now, when is the next Hackett tour?

I see some tix in the 75 -150 range

presale code?

I got verified fan but it's only good for my account

I loath that band after Peter Gabriel left,  fuckin Charlie Brown pumped out the cheesiest 80's crap for MTV to feast up on

Su Su Sudio......WTF is that crap

The period just after Gabriel left is not the band you remember from the 80s .... the Wind/Wuthering Trick of the Tail/ Seconds Out era is fantastic

orianne-phil-collins.jpeg

After flying in from New Orleans met a cabbie taking a ride from the airport shuttle drop of somewhere in Marin to the Sweetwater Station to see Phil play

The Cabbie asked where I was going: "Phil? Phil Collins?"

"No Phil Lesh"

"oh the Dead, i use to drive those guys around in the 80's"

"more recently I was Phil Collins exclusive driver for the time he spent at the Skywalker Ranch recording the Lion King sound track"

"Nice guy"

>>>Su Su Sudio......WTF is that crap<<<

What it is, is a pop hit.

What it isn't is a Genesis song. It's a Phil Collins solo song.

They were still very good for a long time after Gabriel left, and even after they started going for more crossover popularity with Duke in 1980, the songs, the "Genesis" sound & production were still solid for quite a while.

And really, who can blame some older guys who have worked their ass off for years to be able to make more real money using Collins songwriting skills & popularity.

I always figured Collins giving some of his hits to Genesis was a decent way of taking care of his old friends. By the mid-80s and for a long time after that he was one of the biggest solo acts in the world, he didn't need Genesis at all but he kept going back. Nothing wrong with that.

Personally, despite being a prog head in the '70s I was never a huge Genesis fan. I always thought they were a bit too layered, a bit too wordy, a bit too spacey. I always preferred the more rockin' approach of Yes & ELP, and for spacey I was always more of a Pink Floyd fan, but I still liked Genesis and saw a few good shows in the late '70s & early '80s.

My only issue with later-day Genesis is when I was working a stadium show in the early '90s and they played a medley of their older songs.

A medley.

Medley's are the kiss of death, the shark jumped, for any serious artist or group.

But that was a long time ago now. I'll likely pass on this tour, but good for them getting their name back out there. Hopefully they'll feature a good portion of their old catalog and do it justice, and some younger people can discover those great old albums.

So I was able to score tickets to Genesis for MSG. First, just the thrill of buying concert tickets again was worth the price.  Before my first Dead show in 83, I saw Genesis at Forest Hills in 1982.  One of my first real rock concerts. (I think I saw the Kinks the same year).  So 3 subway stops away, I couldn't resist.   I even offered Tatters a ticket.

I even offered Tatters a ticket. <<<

And I do appreciate. With this grand evening, will there be any pre-show activities (oysters, perhaps a nice ceviche) or post-show pursuits (heavy petting, rub and tug)?

Hey Tatters,

Not on the first date.

Not on the first date.<<<

A true romantic? I'm now intrigued.

Count me in but I will be going to the bathroom during Abacab. Just fair warning.
