So, after the recent BOC show, my daughter became interested in Godzilla(graphic images on screen piqued her interest), we have begun working our way through the original Showa era criterion collection(1954-1975). Reviewing our history along the way, the Bikini Atoll incident and the impacts of the Atomic era. Amazing how metaphorically accurate the incident with the fishing boat was. Thinking back on my own memories of the Cold War and contrasting it with how insane it must have been to be a child growing up in post ww2 Japan.
i had forgotten how insanely good some of these movies were. What are your favorites? I have not seen any of the post 70s films.. which of those are worth watching?
I think my favorites are the OG and Destroy all Monsters

Godzilla v. Mechagodzilla
Godzilla v. Mechagodzilla
Went to Japan last year and the big guy is a national hero. No statues of politicians or generals, but they did have this on top of our hotel in the Shinjuku District of Tokyo:
It roars on the hour like a church bell.
In addition to Godzilla, there were also statues of Nintendo characters in the airport and we took a Hello Kitty (seriously) high-speed train from Tokyo to Osaka.

I saw BOC live in Santa Cruz
I saw BOC live in Santa Cruz in 71 or early 72. They had a gimmick where all band members grabbed a guitar and they lined up on the stage edge and jammed out a song. Do they still do that?
