Going Coastal, Yachats in January edition

Forums:

Had a great weekend on the Oregon Coast, celebrating JD Monroe's Birthday (drummer extraordinaire).

Here's a couple of visuals for your zoning pleasure;

That's right on the water.    Renting a beach house for a birthday bash is a fun Oregon tradition.

Thinking about going over to Yaquina Bay this weekend for some crabbing and clam digging.   There is going to be a negative tide on Saturday afternoon.

Now can anyone not from the area pronounce "Yachats"?

Saturday Sunset / Moonset

(we did see the "greenflash",  caught it on video)

If you do head down Ken, it's the Rock & Gem festival in Yachats next weekend!

(and Alsea bay great for clamming too, they really squirt when you walk near them, lol)

Yep, that's a beautiful place to be and it looks like you had everything for a great time. And there there's the land, sea and sky. The last time I was there (for a friend's birthday, Ken) I stayed in a house a couple of houses south of the Adobe - it's funny that the rocks and water look so similar all along that part of the coast.

Happy crabbing and clamming, Ken.

Really?

Today at Royal Terrace Falls near Sweethome.

Use to be able to find cool little quartz "flowers" near those falls

Royal Terrace Falls looks pretty interesting; I've come into Sweet Home as a route out of the hills from the east but haven't heard of Royal Terrace Falls. Hmmmm.

I love Oregon.

McDowell Creek park is where it's located.  Not only are there multiple waterfalls with trails all around them, but the area is loaded with quartz crystals, agates, and lots of petrified wood.  (there's entire petrified old growth logs in McDowell creek, and other creeks in the Waterloo area!   (that area has 7 petrified forests on top of each other, from earlier pyroclastic flows)
