JGB, Mission In The Rain, 11/4/81, Palace Theater, Albany NY (Best JGB show I saw)

Garcia played this in NYC one night and Lennon was there.  John apparently came backstage and told him how much he dug Garcia's version of his song.  It's been told that he took that as one of the greatest compliments he ever got.

At 13:36 there's a few seconds of a little ditty that actually made me jizz in my pants one time.

It was soooo hot in the Roseland that night but what a great show!

Bluelight thanks for posting I was at that Albany show . My freshman year in college we drove up from New Paltz. This is when I met KK aka spanishjam for the first time. Had my first bad trip as well . Mixing whippets and LSD was a very bad idea.

Oct 31 1992 was the best Jerry Band show I saw. Probably more as it was a comeback show and it's a vibe I had never felt before or since . Great set list and grate playing and incredible emotion in the room that night. Vince and The Affordables opened.

Amazing thread

Thank you everyone. I am stuck in bed a few days. I just had a knee surgery so this is perfect.

Was listening to the Halloween show sandiegohead posted, a memorable night.. and started digging.

Found a good source forJerry lists (outside of jerrygarcia.com) with links to stubs, flyers, and dbtree, here-

Thought I'd post my first Garcia Band show . 12.2.89 Warfield.
Clarence Clemmons on sax for the whole show.

I had moved to SF a little over a year earlier.  I was well back on the GD Bus for the 3 previous years, when visiting the bay, after many many years away living in Phoenix - but I knew little about JGB.

What a night! Good friend got me to go, he scored some great paper out in front, and my experience listening to Jerry changed forever!  From then on I caught at least 1, if not more, from each run for all Garcia band shows at the Warfield (and the Grisman shows) and Bay Area.

Found the best quality ( says "SBD")  on youtube , but you must sit thru 5 mins of advert!

That Imagine is horrible. Good god.

What do you see in such a messy performance, Felina?

Whaddya mean, Floops?

He misses tons of notes, doesn't play clear melody at times, and just ugggh.

>>>He misses tons of notes, doesn't play clear melody at times, and just ugggh.

It wasn't a performance.  It wasn't a song.  Just a spur of the moment thing to take up time between songs.

But it WAS glorious. It IS glorious. Sorry your brain is fucking it up...that kinda sucks.

First time I heard it it was like:
