My son and his wife had their baby, Levi Jack on Friday. My first Grandchild. So exited!
i just retired on April 1st, but I have been somewhat laid up since December with a knee issue, even had to miss the David Byrne show I had tickets for in Miami because of it. I can't go see the lil guy until after I get a partial knee replacement on June 10th.
i still can walk a lil bit at a time, and have been going to the pool a lot. Doctor said I couldn't fuck up the knee anymore so I started riding my bike again last week. I am going to go hard at this not doing anything and see where it get me. on the Road to Nowhere
Second -- I saw the David Byrne show last night. Holy Crap Batman!!!
I've seen a fair amount of notable music already this year, but this was by far the most impactful and engaging performance. Do not miss it if you get the chance. It is more like a theatrical event with fantastic choreography than just a static musical concert, but it was never shmalz-y. (Even more impressive than the previous tour a year or two ago.)
David (grew up in Baltimore suburbs, by the way) and 12 incredible singer/dancer/ musicians slayed song after song for almost 2 hours. Plus, the stage and backdrop were "sprhere-like" with seamless integrated graphics from floor to ceiling. Quite amazing. Very amazing. if you were tripping it could have been majorly mind-altering. Hearing the hits live and loud in front of an adoring crowd in a beautiful old theater provided a serotonin rush similar to a powerful Dead show crescendo. I was slightly gob-smacked.
If you are in Europe for the summer, grab a train and hit a show or two. The guy is 74 and in top form.
Exciting news for you, fabes, BK, and Nod. As many might tell you, these little beings are somehow magical and will sparkle in front of your eyes and fill your heart. Love to all of you.

Congrats. My first grandkid is due tomorrow, so it could be any minute.
I think I'm going to be called "Uncle Brian," because in my mind I'm 25 and way too young to be a grandparent.
