Grateful Dead ’82 Reno to Davis Mini Movie

I have created a High Definition Ariel mini movie in which you are in-flight for an hour; starting out in hovering over Lake Tahoe, cruising through the Sierra Nevada Mountains, over towards Davis California, up to Mt. Shasta, back down to the Redwood Forest and safely back in San Francisco.

All while enjoying two newly immensely restored 32 float-bit remastered prime selections from the Grateful Dead’s performances in Reno on March 13, 1982, and the next night at UC Davis in Davis California on March 14, 1982.

To wrap this all up nicely in a bow, is a small excerpt with an interview with Jerry Garcia on January 21, 1983, that I recorded live and widely circulated, overdubbed onto a very short slide show I created with my tickets stubs from the above-mentioned concerts proudly displayed.

What’s on tap:

Friend of The Devil - 1t Set Musical Segment, March 13, 1982

Feel Like a Stranger - 1St Set Musical Segment, March 13, 1982

The Other One - 2nd Set Segment, March 13, 1982

Dear Prudence Jam Finale - 2nd Set Segment, March 13, 1982

{Improvisational Jam Segues to} Scarlet Begonias -2nd, March 14, 1982

Fire on the Mountain - 2nd Set, March 14, 1982

Drums -  2nd Set, March 14, 1982

Space -  2nd Set, March 14, 1982

Sugraree - 1st Set, March 14, 1982

We won $500 in Black-Jack at the Circus Circus Casino in Reno after the show.

We got 2 hotel rooms and let 4 fans from NJ we met at the 11/81 JGB Tour stay there and party all night long

They were eager to get on the road and hitch to Davis. We cashed in my flight tickets {$99 Peoples Express} and took a ride in one the band's tractors across the Sierras.

I can drive a truck, but this was the best tractor drivers of-all-time.  Going 80mph  down hill.

There was a disparaging difference between the steel bleachers set up at Centennial Coliseum and the plush interior of the new UC Davis gym.

Bill Graham personally greeted each fan - pointed them to the servers with Orange Juice & Birthday Cake for Phil Lesh's B-day

Bill came out with Phil and we sang Happy Birthday and ate that cake.

Bobby then came out out and said " We forgot to play One More Saturday Night last night" and the whips into a killer version to open the show.

We were still eating that cake when the show began.

Enjoy this while you can.

I am going to delete this from YouTube in the AM.

Some one just disliked it with out viewing  (5 second view)from the North West Area.  Wonder who that was. Haha

Very nice video. I can't watch it all at once, but the sound is good and so's the band.

Thank you so much!!

It's good to clean the house to.

The state is so beautiful, but vast. These type of cameras are brand new and there is very little footage.

It's seamless but almost 30 edits and 22 sorites.

I will keep it up. I want folks (Mark etc) to see it.

Great thread.

I was at the Davis show.

It rained like rain and I got soaked waiting for willcall to open, I remember being in a very poor mood before the show.

That mood didn't last long.

Very good times as a young man, when the band was still THE BAND.

Thanks for the memories.

I’m watching it now, perfect for relaxing Sunday morning.

Do you have a drone, is that your footage?  Beautiful scenery!

>>Do you have a drone.

No, Going to get the high-end Phantom Drone around August. The software should be ready for prime time by then.

I will be hovering by the Ocean. The sucker better return when I want it back.

>>is that your footage

The film in its entirety is; except a musical improvisational instrumental jam into Scarlet Begonias an the Scarlet its self, which is now part of the Grateful Dead's cannon, and part of this mini movie's soundtrack.

>>Thanks for the memories

Thanks. I put the extra effort to get on the final cut and it took 2 days longer, to get it right.

Turns out (by the Dead channel)  they can not find too many people who went to either of these shows and were left with third hand accounts for broadcasts of the Reno show 2 years in a row

It s just a 2018 postcard version memory of this weekend -

>> is that your footage

I think they're asking if the drone footage is yours, Bluelight.

Post that thought on the YouTube link^

I know Mark Cina-rider here very very well and it was he who asked that question not "they're". Unless you see something I don't..

Right, that's what I said. They're asking if the drone footage is yours.

Post that thought on the YouTube link^

I will give the answer there.

Sorry Bluelight, Viva is the only social media I use.

PS – it's "aerial."

>>Viva is the only social media I use.

I will quote you on that^

Great thread.

Great person.

I always wondered what Mixed-tape Guy was doing these days.

>>>>>Some one just disliked it with out viewing  (5 second view)from the North West Area.  Wonder who that was

Janet Egan?

But seriously can’t you click on the dislike and find out who it was?

Who shot the video?

Nice this is the kind of thing that makes the zone worth it. Not that I don't love the all the troll threads.
