From the story;

Another deal has gone down for a 2017 Sundance Film Festival title ahead of the festival's opening on Thursday — and this one comes with a "Touch of Grey."

Amazon Studios has acquired "Long Strange Trip," a four-hour documentary profile of the legendary rock band The Grateful Dead. The movie is directed by Amir Bar-Lev ("The Tillman Story," SFF '10) and produced by Martin Scorsese.

The movie will debut on Amazon Prime in the United States and United Kingdom on May 26, as a six-part documentary.

"Long Strange Trip" will premiere Monday at 8:30 p.m. at the Yarrow Hotel Theatre in Park City. Grateful Dead members Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann and Bob Weir will be on hand for the screening, along with Trixie Garcia, widow of Jerry Garcia.

Thanks Slickrock! Cool, hope they stick around a bit and pop into the Tower showing too. I still look forward to seeing it in its entirety in a bona fide theater.

Who the fuck is in charge or fact checking this shit?

"Trixie Garcia, Widow of Jerry Garcia"  ?????

Good lord!

The third comment in the Trib article corrected the author. "Trixie is Jerry Garcia's daughter, not his widow."

I guess I should have also before I posted that, being that the correction was already there when I posted. My apologies.

Trixie fake news :-)

Is she the idiot who put his name on the front of the ties? What a stupid change, whoever did it.

I have tickets to the documentary at The Tower on 1/26. I really wanted the premiere tickets on 1/23 but those have been sold out for a bit. I was hoping they would release some on the public sale yesterday but it didn't happen. I may or may not put my name on the waitlist. I've always had good luck years prior doing that. However, I did buy tickets to the show after the premiere on 1/23. It's Oteil Burbridge and Friends. I'm looking forward to see if we get some surprise guests. Bob, Billy, and Mickey are in town. I bought tickets the day they went on sale and a week later they more than doubled in price from the venue/ticketing source. So, we shall see. It's a late show set to start after the documentary. I'm excited!

It looks like John K will be part of that 'Oteil & Friends' line-up too and, based on the movie run-time time and all, that show should be starting sometime after 1am. Good Times @ Sundance!

They got ripped
