" Lemieux told Billboard he likes the plan, .... We know for sure that every year we’re going to release four Dave’s Picks, which are the three-CD complete live shows, quarterly. We know we’re going to do one big box set each year, whether that’s an eight-CD set or an 11-CD set, like the one we have coming up. This gives us one other big thing to focus on every year.”

...confirmed a collection of 80 soundboard tapes recorded by the famed Betty Cantor-Jackson have been added to the vault.

In 2006 the Grateful Dead turned over licensing of their music, merchandise and other facets of the business to Rhino Entertainment for a period of 10 years. The deal expired last May and after a lengthy bidding process Rhino scored an extension for a term that doesn’t quite span a decade but has been described as      significant.

... Pinkus shares a few other details about what lies ahead for Grateful Dead musical releases and beyond.

The Grateful Dead’s board of directors tapped ROAR to manage its business in early 2015. Bernie Cahill is a principal in ROAR’s efforts with the band. Cahill shared news about a different way Deadheads will soon be able to enjoy the band’s music, “We’re going to announce a new and very significant partnership that is going to focus on high-fidelity streaming in the fourth quarter of 2017, if all goes well.

” There’s also talk of bringing the Grateful Dead brand into the cannabis industry. “If we move forward from exploration to execution, it will be major,” Cahill said.

Pathetic.

Sorry folks, all the GD weed was in Jerry's briefcase

Grateful Head

Scarlet Bestonias

China Cat Greenflower

Box Of Strain

Estimated Puff-it

Stella BlueDream

Just sad.

GD related strains and company names already prevalent in the industry, eg Grateful Breath, CaseyJones, Dark Star Farms, Scarlet Fire Farms to name a few.

I'd argue Grateful Dead cannabis goes back for more than a half century!

Grateful Dead are a cultural phenomenon which is why I spend so much time here, and I bet the same is true for most of you. They can also be a trademarked "brand" (managed by "ROAR") and sell whatever they package that the public can be persuaded to buy. Phil and the other boys get royalty payments for their past work, as they deserve.

Grateful Dead are a proven lasting community, and the band's music forever fills the air, business be damned.

"Since the end is never told we pay the teller off in gold in hopes he will come back, but he cannot be bought or sold."

Semi related -- Jerry Garcia of The Grateful Dead was brought in to play played steel guitar on the Tarkio sessions. He didn't play on "One Toke Over The Line," but did appear on the B-side, "Oh Mommy' (I Ain't No Commie)."

Ha ..this is really surreal:

"Toking" with Lawrence Welk:

The naming could be fun but the idea is silly. Except from a marketing stand point. Lots of people attracted to the GD "brand".  My opinion is all weed is GD weed.laugh

smell in a bucket?

Landing on the Moon?

Uncle John's Brand?

West LA Fadeaway?

yeah, pretty bad. What yo got?

After Alan's link , an indica strain named Laurence Welk would be cool.

Horrible.   But I guess if other people are making money off them then why shouldn't they.

Victim or the Kind

He's Gone (no name change necessary)

The deadhead Og strain may have a cheesey name but it's some damn good stuff!

or course...

High Time

Let it Grow

any scoop on the 80 Betty Boards other than wht has been written about

What E said about Deadhead OG.

Also, I think it's more likely they'll name a strain after Jerry Garcia than song titles. His name is more recognizable to the general public than song titles.

Casey Jones, Dark Star, Sunshine Daydream & Deadhead OG strains already exist.

Four Strains for the Grateful Dead Fan...

ChemDog lineage comes from a Deer Creek Grateful Dead show circa 1991 where a west coast head sent 2 ounces back east and one of them had 13 seeds.

>>>all the GD weed was in Jerry's briefcase

Sadly, there was no weed in the briefcase.  Here is the official police inventory:

1 brown briefcase containing misc papers

1 SFPD issue property envelope [ed: containing at least next three items]

$990 (16x $50, 9x $20, 1x $10)

3 paper bindles containing brown powder (found in rose tin)

1 baggie of 6 cotton swabs

1 plastic container liquid

1 glass container liquid

8 pieces of foil with burnt residue

11 paper bindles with brown residue in a bag found in briefcase

1 paper bindle of white powder found in briefcase

1 Zip-Loc baggie containing 1 yellow legal paper bindle containing white powder, labeled "1/2 gram"

1 paper bindle with brown rock like substance

1 cooking glass with prong holders

7 cigarette lighters

1 razor

1 4" metal tool

1 zipper brown pouch 6" x 4"

1 seven of hearts playing card

1 rose metal box 4" x 2"

So Jerry was a lighter clepto. Big deal.
