Grateful Shred East Coast

Forums:

At The Ardmore Music Hall Thursday 11/9/23. Never seen them before, coupla videos out there look like they would be fun to see.

Gonna solo it but meet all my friends there if you know what I mean.

Anyone ever? Opinions?

They've gone through a few personnel changes over the last few years, but the version I saw last year was pretty damn good. Maybe not quite up there as JRAD or DSO, but still totally worthy.

If you're inclined to boogie, they should get you there. Good times band.

I've seen 'em 3 or 4 times... and recommend that you GTTS

with Dan Horne on bass, and the addition of Adam McDougall on keys a couple years ago, this band is well worth the cost of admission IMO

Seen them 6 times or so at Ardmore or Brooklyn Bowl Philly.  Interested to see how they do at the Cap on Friday (that is a big venue compared to the places they usually play).  Definitely worth checkig out.

McDougall is not a selling point, IMO. My mileage definitely variessmiley

I've only seen them on Youtube.  Never seemed to be the same personnel.

Haven't been knocked out.  I think maybe I was expecting the "Shred" would be more of a descriptor than a middling rhyme.

Like...Vai- or Satriani-type players taking on the GD catalogue.

Props to 'em for booking the Cap, 'tho.  Hope they don't end up with a Garcia's-sized crowd.

What a great band! Went in with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised. Very smooth but energetic takes on the catalog, the playing was open but the sound was dense, felt airy to dance to and also had plenty of those little fills that make my extremities happily twitch to their own frequencies!

Yes mikeedward, good times boogieing all around, not sure if The Cap will feel the same, but for the small 600 capacity Ardmore it was just exactly perfect. Last night was maybe 3/4 sold, plenty of space to squirm and wiggle all night long.

Catch them if you can!

Saw Ardmore on Thursday and Cap on Friday.  They filled up the Cap pretty good; both with people and sound.  2 repeats from Thursday at the Cap (Friend of the Devil and Eyes both in the 2nd set), but each show had its moments .  I just hope the band keeps it to smaller venues.  See this band!
