I've been there for the
I've been there for the contest. Everyone is packed in between 2 buildings and it's very tight bordering on dangerous. Last time I was there a woman had a panic attack with her child and cleared a pathway out by hitting people. There's also a inordinate number of Asians with cameras. They love it not only because I think they get a kick out of American gluttony but they are also rooting for their countryman Kobayashi. Forget actually buying a hotdog for yourself at Nathans as the lines are very long. So long in fact that there's ton's of vendors with hotdog carts in the area just picking up the overflow of folks who want to say they ate a hotdog that day. Bathrooms are hard to find which sucks when 2000 people are eating and drinking in a very confined area. To even get a straight on view you better arrive early as the entire area is filled with folks behaving as if they got the rail at a Phish show. If you have a problem with being packed like a sardine among people who are sweating profusely in 90 degree heat stay far away.
