Greetings from the Jersey shore

Forums:

Beautiful day here at the Jersey shore. Surf isn't too rough,  no riptides, and not too crowded.  Had a west wind earlier, brings the greenhead flies, but that has shifted.

And yes, all those bad things you've heard about the Jersey shore are true. Best to stay away.

enjoy man. miss the jersey shore, great day to go swimming.

I'll be there soon for my annual trip - family reunion.

Starting To NOT LIKE 4 Of July Week - Humans Turn Into IDIOTS Especially At Grocery Stores and Out And Abouters ! no

Seriously, what’s with Out and Abouters in general! I hope they all get agoraphobia don’t you?

Thanks, pyramid,  really was an excellent beach day. Water is damn cold, couldn't be more than 65°f.  Jumped into my pool when i got home, felt like bath water.

Whereabouts at the shore,  Nancy?

Is that a fishing boat

I believe so, Bucky.

It's a dredge boat

That was my first thought, Keith, but could not see where the sand was being deposited.

Plus, the was a factory trawler working offshore all afternoon.

What’s the purpose of the dredge boat in this instance

The beach gets hammered every winter, lots of erosion. Dredging is used to replenish the beach. Could be part of the dune construction project

Was it in that spot all day? I'm seeing a wake. Looks like it was on the move

Up and down a couple mile section of coast all day, Keith

Replenishing the beach with sand dredged from offshore often leads to more erosion as the waves reach the beach with more energy from crossing deeper waters.

^they do it every year

That’s cool so they suck up sand from the ocean floor and build up the beach? Sounds like fun. Hopefully they make some epic sand castles and shit when they are dumping the sand on the beach.

Job security.

Sorry for going tangential - but I just got around to editing some picks I took in June of a great back East Vacation I took....

In a nutshell, I hit the Ardmore in Philly for Wavy's Bday and saw SK, Krasno, Hamilton, JK, John Kimock, Jay Lane.
From there I toodled to NYC to attend an amazing rooftop wedding one block north of the Empire State Building.
I bar hopped liberally around town and saw a lot of great music  - especially at the Rockwood Music Hall!
Caught Max Creek at the Big Apple BBQ! Of course I ate too much Pizza and Bagels!

From there I flew to Nantucket and spent 3 incredible days at Sea on my friends 36 foot fishing and dive Boat!

Endeavor.JPG

We motored across Nantucket Sound and down the Channel near the Elizabeth Island - north of the VIneyard - fishing at Quick's Hole and other spots along the way.
Moored up at Cuttyhunk and in the AM caught some real fish!  This Black Sea Bass was DEEELICIOUS!

Has real like with the Stripers!

And then we motored out about 20 miles off Chatam and Monomoy on Father's Day and saw more whales then we could count!

For vacation 2 I am about to head to The Dump for DeadCO and then HSMF and OCF!

I love summer!

No worries, treble... great pics!

>>>Here's how they do it, Bucky...

Hey thanks Lumber Truck! It is cool after all. And that video was like the Sopranos go on a boat ride. They probably dump a few bodies when they are out there and then they pick up a bunch of sand out in the ocean. They refine it and put that sand out on the beach and I bet they get top dollar too. Those people are smart.
