Greetings from the Jersey shore

Forums:

Beautiful day here at the Jersey shore. Surf isn't too rough,  no riptides, and not too crowded.  Had a west wind earlier, brings the greenhead flies, but that has shifted.

And yes, all those bad things you've heard about the Jersey shore are true. Best to stay away.

Hey Lumber !!

Maybe see you at "Kung Fu" show next Thursday on the Beach.

Let's get a Pint at Bond St. maybe 5-6 PM ??

Hope to see you there.

Hey hey its lumber and woody...

How is everyone? Its freakin hot as ....well, its freakin hot here, i cant even think...97 and humid in Ct...i think i need to head to shore...may go to Cape next week, (after the 4th) , but, maybe i should head south instead.

Tom, i watched a documentary last pm on shark attacks in Jersey in 1916...5 attacks in 12 days or something, and 3 were all within an hour in an inlet? A tidal pond or something they called it...anyway, just a crazy (true) story from our history. Newspaper stories moving World War 1 to bottom of page one as this story took over the whole country (and elsewhere etc).

Best part was when narrator discussed the "theories" everyone from john q. public, to noteable oceanographers came up with. Trying to figure out why all of a sudden this shark or sharks were hunting etc...was it a new feeding area? Warmer waters? Best one i heard was the bombing offshore in Europe sent vast majority of Atlantic sharks East.

After 12 days, they shot a shark, found human remains inside his belly, and it never happened like that again...but, they did say, with the technology in 1916, they really had no idea if that really was the actual shark etc, they just put that word out because the jersey shore was losing millions of dollars in tourism etc...the ended up losing that whole summer anyway (even w their steel enclosed ocean swimming areas..;)   )....but, all returned to normal in 1917...

So, cool off, go for a swim....and have a great day, all!

Hey...you guys gotta come up to Htfd for Farm Aid in Sept! Neil, Willie, Cougar, dave mathews w tim reynolds, nathanial ratcliff, lukas nelson...countless others...gonna be wild in the city that day!

It feels like Florida here in the Hudson Valley.

The traffic in Jersey keeps me away.

The Rockaways are good enough.

Hey, stu. Won't be back to the shore until bout 8pm on Thursday.  Gonna have to ask for a rain check.

Jambone,  those attacks were the basis for Jaws. I believe it was the manasquan river that the shark found its way into. When i was displaced,  I lived right up road from manasquan river for a bit. No sharks sightings here today.

Don't believe i will be heading to farm aid. Son starts high school this year, my daughter starts middle school,  so o imagine sept. will be a busy time.

Wow, ya, that sounds like itll be a lil busy in the household....hope ya enjoy every minute of summer til then
