I'm a n00b to all of this stuff- been playing guitar for about 6 years now but have really been focusing on just learning to play. Come a long way! If you get confused: Whole- Whole- Half- Whole- Whole-Whole-Half.
The general consensus is the Full Drive is the best pedal there and that it makes the deal worthwhile.
Looking into a new delay pedal. I like my malekko ekko but it slightly colors the tone and is a lil more noticeable with my new amp. Still loving the Kalamazoo love pedal. A really fantastic alternative to the tube screamer. Might just go with the carbon copy for a delay.
As of late I play a ton of bass: 4 string, 5 string and Fretless as well as Upright.
I have a sweet Fender Deluxe American J Bass, a Modulus Q5, a Fretless Modulus Bassstar from the 80's and a 1954 Kay Upright.
I also play guitars and mandolins.
I play bluegrass, blues, rock, jazz, funk and swing.
This is just a glimpse of my collection of effects - probably numbering in the 50s:
The most recent pedal I've obtained is the MXR Sub Machine - it's a super crazy deep fuzz with a Sub aspect that shakes my home studio, my house and very much freaks my wife out.... With bass it's especially dangerous and can ruin PA systems and amplifiers:
The best device I've recently acquired (by far) is a 2 channel Pre-Amp called "Felix," by Grace Designs out of Lyons, CO.
It's like a swiss army knife that I use for all purposes. I can blend a Piezo and Mic signal for double bass, mandolin or guitar.... I can beef up the bottom and cut the mids for electric bass or I can run a rig with 2 different instruments and simply step on a switch to alternate between them with full, robust EQ and awesome, transparent tone.
The only catch is it was stupidly expensive:
Unfortunatley no toys in my near future. I've never owned or have even messed around with a loop pedal. One of these days.
Siobud -- nice score! Keep concentrating on learning than move over to using your pedals to define your own tone/sound.
Timpane --- I have the MXR carbon copy analog delay and it sounds killer. Like any pedal it took me some fucking around with until I got the sound that I wanted.
I've been enjoyed the heck out of my Moogerfooger pedal.
The Multiple Resonance Filter Array (MuRF) combines an 8 band array of resonant filters with a pre-programmed Animation section for unlimited unique sequenced filter effects. The MF-105M adds MIDI in for MIDI clock sync, tap tempo, and more. Its warm, resonant, 100% analog Mid and Bass filter bands bring you everything from shimmering timbral morphing and rhythmic stuttering to deep bass grooves, and like all Moogerfoogers, it’s built like a tank to stand up to the toughest touring and studio use.
That looks like one of those pedals you need a degree to use properly.
Nothing worse than finding my 3 year old tweaking knobs on my pedals. It's not like I play a lot but, come on. Hmmmmmm, I guess I should just make him his own pedalboard with the ones I don't use anymore.
Nice to see I'm not the only bassist using Genz Benz, it seems like not a lot of people know about them but I thought their stuff was solid.
How do u like that soundblox envelope filter?
i've been thinking about picking up the more streamlined model to replace the old, inexpensive ibanez auto wah I've been using for years in hopes it will give my envelope sound more range, dynamics and wetness.
i imagine that pre amp was stupid expensive, most good ones r but people swear by em'.
i've had my eye on the one a company called noble put out recently.
i'm not even sure how to use one, is it supposed to start or end the pedal chain?
i also feel like I should get a chorus pedal one day but feel like I'd hardly ever use it
i love the Soundblox Pro Bass Envelope Filter for its variety of tones, its warmth and it's capacity to please my ears.
The only negative is I sense that it strips away about 1/3rd of the bassinets w some patches.
o also own a vintage Ibanez AF-9 which I like but not so much w bass.
Also pictured is the Chunk Systems Double OO Funk. An Australian made Envelope Filter.
It sounds great but can be tough to tweak.
I also have a vintage Mutron III but I don't use it at gigs cause of its value.
Love that Genz Benz head cause it's got a tube pre amp and it's very fat sounding and reliable.
Can't say enough good about the Felix Pre.
The TC Chorus is also a Ring Modulator and Flanger.
Its legacy stuff and there's been tons of innovation since that pedal came out but I have used it in nearly every effects chain I've assembled for decades.
Aside from the Eventide, I recently bought an Infinity looper from a friend who wanted a Boomerang. The grass is always greener on the other pedalboard. My collection :
If anyone is looking for a killer drum pedal, i highly recommend the Beat Buddy.. just amazing<<<
Yes!
I have a Beat Buddy midi-synched to a Boomerang 3 (looper), but the Beat Buddy goes straight out to a mixer which runs pair of 1100 powered PA speakers. So, the drum machine (BB) is always going through the PA and not my guitar amps, which is a game changer re: how I can get the overall mix to be more "full" re: low end. Likewise, having the Beat Buddy midi-synch to my looper (which also has additional Master/Slave loops) makes it so as the rhythm guitar and other parts are always in synch with the drum machine & layers can be added / subracted. I have a Vox AC15 running in parallel with a Fender Twin Reverb via an ABY switch, but I have the Vox mic'd into a (secondary) mixer, which sends stereo out to my Boomerang 3, which in turn sends stereo out to the primary mixer. I also have a cheap keyboard which goes into the secondary mixer ... for that matter more instruments can be added to the secondary mixer ... which serves as a "gathering spot" for all input to be looped.
