I'm debating whether or not to attend this show. Not sure if I can ditch the family tonight + $8 charge (more than 50% of the ticket price) = game time decision.
So far it's not sold out + an attractive free bar show lineup (Greg Loiacono & Friends: ft. Dave Zirbel, Scott Guberman, Brian Rashap & Danny Luehring) = probably a better deal than what's in the Grate Room, but will save $3 off the service fee if I like what I hear from outside The Room.

Phil Lesh and The Terrapin Family Band -
Grahame Lesh, Ross James, Alex Koford & Jason Crosby
Grate Room at TXR
When I Paint My Masterpiece (GL)
Big Railroad Blues (RJ)
Blue Sky (AK)
Shakedown Street > (GL)
The Golden Road (To Unlimited Devotion) (AK)
Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo > (PL)
Estimated Prophet (GL)
Sugaree (RJ)
Casey Jones (AK)
I decided to give the new Zone a shot. I understand much of the foolishness that ruined the Zone for me is not present here.
BTW Dave, Bonita told me you were a taper. I know this show happened before taping was allowed but would you have a tape from 11/11/70 at the 46th Street Rock Palace in beautiful Brooklyn? A few songs into the 2nd set out came Jorma, Jack and Papa John who played most of the rest of the night. The only copy on Archive is unlistenable. I asked Betty Cantor if she knew of one and e-mailed David Gans. Came up empty on both.
I ended up making a late decision to go to TXR and had a GREAT time in the Grate Room.
Missed the first three songs. Noted during Shakedown that there would be no following guitar solos down any rabbit holes, but really appreciated what this band does rhythmically, each member in his own style.
Phil continues to blow me away in surprising ways. Last night I was camped out in the sweet spot and was often mesmerized with his off-kilter rhythms, with "more is less" percussive notes, often nowhere near the pocket.
Golden Road was much slower than usual, but interesting.
Half-Step started with a plodding, unchanging drum beat, but started getting interesting once crossing the Rio Grande-O.
Estimated brought some good jamming from middle to end and had a strange ending.
Sugaree was very upbeat and almost unrecognizable - as noted by formerlybret, it had a Lou Reed flavor (and I heard a little bit of Rolling Stones thrown in). The Jamming was nowhere close to Grateful Dead and Phil was visibly pleased at the end of the tune (I was too, this was the GOOD STUFF).
Casey Jones was Casey Jones.
Short set, but we were graced with a 3-song encore. Alabama was a bit more spacey in the middle than I'm used to hearing (a very good thing). Franklin's was a surprising treat.
And Brokedown once again revealed how beautiful the three harmonizing voices of Grahame, Phil, and Alex can sound together.
As Lance said after the show, just three of those tunes (Half-Step, Estimated, and Sugaree) alone made the show worth at least $20. (Lance can correct me if I remembered this incorrectly)
I danced my ass off, which was a welcome break from the World's worries.
The show ended before 10:00 - short, but it allowed for the pleasure of being able to head to the bar for one last drink, sit on the stairs, and listen to the last 3 tunes of the free bar show with Loiacono et al. They played an incredibly ripping/rocking version of Greg's tune Away from the Stone (?), which became way more spacey and melty than anything that happened in the Grate Room.
All-in-all, another fantastic night in the clubhouse.
I was at every show of that run in Brooklyn. The last night was sold out and I was ticketless so I got hired as an usher. After the lights went out the venue was short at least 1 usher.
Hello JR. Not name dropping. Just trying to track down a tape.

Cavs in 6 this year! If healthy, otherwise they are cooked.
What a collapse last year. KD will get you there easy. Unfortunately when the lights shine bright he struggles the most. But who knows, maybe he puts on his big boy pants and earns all this respect everyone has been giving him.

I might spend too much time in here.
We did are taxes and are getting a return so I might get to a show
this spring. Hoping the weather changes and another all ages outdoor show gets
announced at the right time. My wife has a few shows coming up so I'm actually due
for my own night out. Or if Grandma visits then we can have a date night at the clubhouse.

Truth B told I was more of a tape collector then a taper. I was fortunate 2 have friends that were tapers.
They let me monitor stuff, make sure levels were set correctly & all that, while they took bathroom breaks or beer scavenging runs.
Because of the folks who sat in that night, 11/11/70 is a shoe that everyone want's.
Like U, I have tried 2 listen 2 way poor quality recordings, but found it was time waisted.
I have never heard of anyone having a decent quality tape of this shoe.
