Bruce Springsteen has postponed the remaining dates of his tour this year with the E Street Band while he continues to recover from peptic ulcer disease, a few weeks after he postponed eight shows for the same reason.
In a statement posted to social media on Wednesday, Springsteen — who turned 74 last week — said that 14 more dates for the remainder of 2023, across Canada and in Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco and the Los Angeles area, would be postponed “on doctor’s advice,” and that the dates would be rescheduled for next year. In all, Springsteen postponed 22 shows because of his illness.
“Thanks to all my friends and fans for your good wishes, encouragement, and support,” Springsteen said in the statement. “I’m on the mend and can’t wait to see you all next year.”
Springsteen’s latest tour is his first with the E Street Band since 2017, and has been on the road since February. After opening in Tampa, Fla., and making a first pass around the United States, it has been through Britain and Europe, including multiple shows in Italy, Germany, Sweden and Ireland. The tour returned to the United States briefly in August and early September before its previous postponement.
Been cruising around southern Utah and Colorado, so I haven't been zoning.
With about 8 of us in tow, I got to go from Salt Lake to Denver's Mile High with a bunch of radio pals for the tour in '85. We had tix for the 22nd but it rained and sleeted and was canceled. We had to exchange out tix for the 23rd so we got to see Bruce on his birthday and it blew me away there wasn't a collective singing of "Happy Birthday" by the crowd. GREAT time! I snuck down on to the field. Saw him from the front row on his first tour out west, Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix in '74 or '75 or so. Amazing. David Sancious did the piano run in NYC Serenade right in front of me.
Though he has slowed down a bit, for the first 20 years or so he was the most amazing live act. What a performer. One of the best ever.

I've probably told the story before but my following Bruce Springsteen across the land was caused by the Grateful Dead. Because my parents forbid me from going on the Spring 77 Dead tour becuase they felt I needed to finish out my senior year of HS strong, when I was 18 and out of their home with my own car, I blew off a lot of college and followed the '78 Springsteen tour from New Jersey to Red Rocks and back again. A good case can be made that the original Darkness On The Edge of Town tour was the pinnacle of Springsteen and the E Street Band's performing. Back then he was just pure energy run amok, now it is a bit more controlled with this recent tour just coming into it's something extra stage. Still, even at a notch down from his peak, Springsteen is a force of nature and delivers a sermon of rock and roll every time he hits the stage. Only one performer, IMO, topped him...
p.s. In a weird what goes around comes around situation, the reason I was photographing concerts for Phil Lesh's management was because the loved my work tour work for Backstreets Magazine. I was told when that was found out that, "You can photograph Phil anytime you want. Just let us know when."
