Happy birthday Brent

Forums:

A little funny that some of you who love Brent so much didn't go here.

I loved him too, just not as much later on as many.

I just discovered that 10/21 is Brent's birthday as I was re-living my first GD show just now, 43 years ago on 10/21 in Winterland, and came upon this Brent Bday factoid.

Maybe even more interesting, I discovered that 10/21 is also Jeff Chimenti's birthday.

Another damn good keyboard player with deep GD roots, who I believe continues to play shows on some of Brent's keyboards.

Whatever I thought of him later in his career, I sure did see some great shows with Brent on the ivories.

Atta' boy, Brent.

Atta' boy keyboard players.

Happy Birthday, Cliff Hanger, you are missed.  Thanks for all the great rides.

I've been celebrating Brent today, as well as Jeff Chimenti.

Brent was it.

Great show from a great tour.  On the 30 Trips From The Sun release.

Not sure Brent ever realized what he meant to us. Everything I've read about him made it sound like he felt he was the outsider of the band instead of an equal part. Very sad.  He was the momentum that pushed Jerry and the boys to the just exactly perfect outer limits. After the sweet Keith 70's, Brent's 80's mindfucks were just what was needed to really get ya there. Even if you weren't dosing, his sounds made you feel like you were.

Brent, the human dose. HBD ya crazy fucker ! Miss ya lots !!

It's strange, but I think that, at the time, Brent's passing actually hit me harder than Jerry's. Brent's seemed to come out of no where, while Jerry's was long anticipated by a lot of us.

Happy birthday, Brent. You definitely helped the music soar many times.

Brent was the best on keys in the GD imo. Loved him. Brought so much flavor to the music. What a sad loss!

I just want to make love to you

This clip of Not Fade Away from 7/4/89 with Jerry and Brent trading licks should make you smile.   One of my favorite memories of the GD.

Brent was my favorite member. Not favorite keyboardist, favorite band member.

He would be 69.  I can't picture him being an old man.

While he was no Brent, Keith played some amazing shows as well, pretty much all of 72,73, 76, 77,,,,  that dark star from the Aug-1-73 show I recently posted is stunning. His trading licks with Jer is special, keeping time like one of the drummers while jazz riffing his ass off on the fender rhodes,, woah nellie.

Keith was a red dwarf, Brent was a supernova.
