Happy 81st birthday to one of the original psychedelic stormtroopers and the final ingredient that allowed the Grateful Dead to truly soar.
Over the years there's been plenty to pick on, and as a player he has long been a dim shadow of his former self, but for a long, long time he was an absolutely brilliant drummer, the moment he began playing with the Grateful Dead that band took a MAJOR jump upward & out... way WAY out, and he was and forever will be a member of the Grateful Dead.
And that's far out.
