Happy February, what are you listening to?

Forums:

Haven't been zoning as much, but thought I'd get start this month off with one of my fave features.  What's everyone spinning?

I have that 6 CD Blood on the Tracks box.  One of very few records that YES I want to listen to 6 CDs worth,  It's great.

We recently watched a bunch of the Ken Burns jazz stuff and that's got me listening to some older jazz.  Count Basie -- Decca Recordings, some Sidney Bechet, and the sessions with Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington.

James Hunter Six-- white soul guy from England, his songs have that Sam Cooke-esque cha-cha beat.  Great stuff.  Saw him last night, I'd recommend it but for the chatterers.

Jerry and Howard Wales - Side Trips One -- a bunch of rambling fusion stuff, but I like Jerry, so hey.

Kikagaku Moyo - Masana Temples- Japanese band that sounds kinda Stereolab-ish.  Looking forward to seeing them next month.

I was listening to Supertramp's Greatest Hits in the car today (library CD, I swear I didn't buy it!).

Really enjoyed the nostalgia of some of those tunes!

Now, I'm listening to the Pretty in Pink soundtrack

After a mention of him in another thread

Marshall Crenshaw   s/t

Otis Redding, best of.

Still working my way through the 19 cds of PNW 73 74 complete recordings.

^^ can you send me a cdr of the 45 minute playin'?  :)

^Sure, send me email

That is a very cool album. I was breast fed on it...

My dear sister saw them on that tour & she had the tour program. It was very cool.

It has some fantastic photographs of a bewildered Tom Johnstone.

He was very ill at the time & Jeff Baxter replaced him on that tour & on many tracks on Captain & Me.

I got into audio engineering because I knew Ted Templeton was the shit & wanted to be like that guy..

That has never changed..

Shoji Meguro, Toshiki Konishi and Atsushi Kitajoh - Persona 5 Full Soundtrack

This is the soundtrack to a Japanese, anime style role playing game on PS4, but it really, honestly stands on its own as a raging, almost 4 hour long cinematic jazz-fusion epic.

William Tyler.  Aside from his extended song intros and creepy fingernails I really dig him.

Does anyone know Electric Apricot?  Or watch the movie?  Getting a good laugh out of this one (some funny references to the GD, and cuts from Bob Weir and Garcia/Grisman).

I've been listening to The Promise, by John McLaughlin.

I'm still not too familiar with his music (know about Mahavishnu), but HOLY CRAP!!!

What an incredible showcase, with a wide range of styles, tones, tempos, ensembles, dueling instruments, deep grooves, etc, etc, etc....

Jazz Jungle certainly woke me up and blew my mind this morning (Had to stay in the parked car to catch the end of this 14 1/2 minute infectious jam.  DAMN!)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJ179P9lQZs

Any other recommendations for this Jazz newbie?
