Made it to town yesterday after being stuck in Th. Had to go one way and come back another because of the icy hills. Pretty much a white knuckle ride down - coming back up was easier. And we have AWD.

22 in Salt Lake this morning, 20 at the airport (but who lives at the airport?) with 22 mph winds say 4 degree wind chill factor.
Resorts have been getting snow, but just a light dusting in the valley this morning I took care of with a broom.
46 degrees expected on Tuesday with 70% chance of rain. Probably not a white Christmas in Salt Lake this year.

I need to get going on my Christmas shopping today. Plan is to finish it up and then I can start wrapping. Of course, the gifts I have purchased so far have all been bought locally and they wrap for you.

The storm was 3 days ago. It's 28˚, ice covering everything except streets and sidewalks. There are a huge number of tree parts large and small in the roads. Many people in Eugene don't have electricity but more and more do. Mine only was out for about 5 hours.
The sun coming through the ice on the trees is stunningly beautiful.

Ice update - went down the
Ice update - went down the driveway today. Notice I didn't say drove, since that would imply some control over the matter. Managed to stay on the driveway and stop at the bottom. Gravity was the boss. No new newspaper delivered, trash and recycling still not picked up since Thurs. The road looked even worse - 1 inch of solid, glare ice, too slick to walk on.
We turned around gingerly so as not to slide down the hill and made it back up to the house - barely.
Maybe tomorrow?

Sun came out strong this afternoon, all clear with a high of around 50 earlier today. Really happy with the new hand rail we had installed on our stoop, not sure how i ever made it without it.
The birds were really happy this morning with their feeding party, grabbed the 40 pound bag at walmart today good deal for 23 bucks. As our cat lurked.

....for now though, I feel bad for possibly cluttering this thread with unrelated banter - so I'll 'stay in my lane' and report that it's a cold 17 degrees under currently clear blue skies, however, with a potentially soon to be inverted situation (ie Bad Air).
