Happy belated Thanksgiving all. I have a lot to be thankful for. Apparently the flu shot I got in September didn't work as well as it has in the past and I came down with it on Tuesday. Bad. I have never passed out or been unconscious in my life except when I suffered a fractured skull when I was 4. That's a whole other story and my memories of it are limited at best other than what I've been told.
To try and make a long story short on Wednesday evening, as I was walking to my bedroom, I collapsed and face planted on the tile floor and managed to hit a small metal antique table in the small foyer outside our bedroom. I have no recollection whatsoever of it happening other than waking up face down on the floor in a pool of blood,( sorry but I won't post any gruesome pics) and my wife telling me not to move (not that this lifelong athlete could have at that point) and that she had called 911. Anyway after an ambulance trip to the regional trauma center, I was released around midnight after battery of tests. I'm on the mend and hopefully won't need any plastic surgery. Needless to say our Thanksgiving plans were kaput and I was kind enough to give my Sugarmag the flu as well. Never a dull moment. Hopefully next year will work out better. Peace and love to all.
Dang, Jamspace. Sorry to hear about the episode. Heal up and get better! At least you didn't face plant on the "Group W Bench." Could've been worse. Best to you and your "Sugar Mag."
Thanks for the well wishes Judit and Slickrock. I'll take all the good vibes I can get. If I told you that it was my wife's turn to end up in the ER at 4am this morning would you believe it?
Thanks Local, Judit and Mike. She seems to be doing ok. It's not a life threatening issue but she was in extreme pain. In some ways she's the tougher one of the two of us and rarely complains about pain or illness. But in 20 years of marriage I've never seen her in this much distress.
As for "normal", I'm not sure there is such a thing in this country anymore.

In some ways Bill Graham
That card is a great reminder of Bill Graham's important involvement in The Last Waltz concert, and what Scorsese completely left out of the movie.
In some ways Bill Graham Presents has always been over-rated/over-romanticized.
But in other ways, they were absolutely "The Best in the Known Universe".
Not because other companies couldn't do what they did, but because no one else thought of doing what they did.
Bill always said, "I never want to hear 'we can't do that'."
I will always be very proud to have once been a very small part of that special organization.
Happy thanks for life day folks.

Thanksgiving Prayer
A Thanksgiving Prayer
William S. Burroughs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLSveRGmpIE
"To John Dillinger and hope he is still alive.
Thanksgiving Day November 28 1986"
Thanks for the wild turkey and
the passenger pigeons, destined
to be shit out through wholesome
American guts.
Thanks for a continent to despoil
and poison.
Thanks for Indians to provide a
modicum of challenge and
danger.
Thanks for vast herds of bison to
kill and skin leaving the
carcasses to rot.
Thanks for bounties on wolves
and coyotes.
Thanks for the American dream,
To vulgarize and falsify until
the bare lies shine through.
Thanks for the KKK.
For nigger-killin' lawmen,
feelin' their notches.
For decent church-goin' women,
with their mean, pinched, bitter,
evil faces.
Thanks for
"Kill a Queer for Christ"
stickers.
Thanks for laboratory AIDS.
Thanks for Prohibition and the
war against drugs.
Thanks for a country where
nobody's allowed to mind his
own business.
Thanks for a nation of finks.
Yes, thanks for all the memories
-- all right let's see your arms!
You always were a headache and
you always were a bore.
Thanks for the last and greatest betrayal
of the last and greatest
of human dreams.
