I'm thrilled with the pick. Walz checks a LOT of boxes to win the middle. And from all reports, a damned nice guy. Worked with a Republican legislature effectively. Hunter, military service, teacher, and progressive.
Thinking he'll also appeal to the neighbor folks in Michigan and Wisconsin, which will help mitigate not picking Shapiro from Pennsylvania for their 19 votes.
We have a great chance to run that orange son of a bitch right off the political map. Right on!

As someone who worked at giant corporations for most of my life and can say their are no "woke" companies. I mean maybe the corner coffee shop or bakery. Corporations do things for one reason and one reason only - to make more money this quater than they made last quarter. The only reason corporations do "woke" is because it is good for business. They see the writing on the wall and don't want to be the last company that is all white men because those companies won't survive. Disney has gay day because gay people have money. They don't give a fuck about gay people. They would have Nazi day if that made them money but they don't because Nazi's and right wing blow hards are a small loud minority mostly without any disposable incomes.

I tortured myself and listened to the orange guy's 1/2 hour interview on FAUX this morning.
The token black guy from the morning show was doing a remote from Strugis and they took some questions. One guy talked about how he's having to help 5 of his 8 children and step-children financially and wondered what the idiot would do to ease their pain. His answer was "Drill, baby, drill. We have liquid gold under our feet." He didn't discuss global markets and how they might react. It was obvious he's got nothing new to combat the wave. And fact-checking would be useful as the litany of BS was overwhelming.

The right wing media and JD Vance are making a big deal of the fact that Waltz retired from the National Guard right before his unit was to be deployed to Iraq. They are calling him a coward who abandoned his fellow soldiers. But according to the story in the link:
"In late 2002, he was ordered to appear before a medical retention board about the hearing impairment. After waiting for a decision for months, he was given clearance to serve out the remaining years of his final six-year enlistment."
Unless I am missing something, it sounds like his injury basically forced him out when his enlistment term expired.

this is correct
in addition; during his final two years he didn't complete the non-commissioned officer education requirement (resident portion of the US Army Sergeants Major academy) to keep his grade and retire as an E9.
which means even if he hadn't been injured or planning to retire, he wouldn't have been eligible to be retained in the service (at least not in the capacity of a command sergeant major) from that point forward anyways.

At another point in the interview, Cooper asks Harris about Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ (R) recent comments in which she mocked Harris for not having biological children to keep her “humble.” In response, Harris says she feels “sorry” for Sanders: “Because I don’t think she understands that there are a whole lot of women out here who, are not aspiring to be humble.
