Have you ever seen a ghost? a real one?

Forums:

I'm not talking a psychedelic vision or a crystal clear remembrance of the deceased or a quick corner-of-the-eye thing or a sleep induced dreamstate image.

I'm talking a real ghost that you heard, talked to, somehow interacted with relatively close up, saw walk thru a wall, etc. -- a real supernatural being. An entity. With a recognizable personality.

And do ghosts have to be semi-transparent? Or is that just how someone depicted them in the movies? They are obviously not corporeal, but do they have to be whispy? Anyone ever witness a solid ghost?

With all these cell phones around, you'd think we see a lot of pictures already.

If our eyes can see ghosts, that energy should be able to be captured on a smartphone camera sensor. (Today's cell phones also can detect ionising radiation in addition to visible light.)

See no, feel yes,, all the time.

While dreaming I interact with people I've lost but nothing when awake.

I'm fairly sure ghosts don't exist, except in your mind.

Late at night in '98 on the road to Bozeman MT, I saw a ghost with brown work boots on, float across the road.

I've never seen a ghost.

My wife's parents passed before my children were born. When my son was old enough to talk, about two years, he woke up and told me his grandfather came to see him last night. I asked him what his grandfather looked like.  My son gets out of bed and goes into our laundry room, finds a hidden photo of my father in law, and says "it was him, he came to see me." My son did not know the photo was there, nor did he know what my father in law looked like.

About a week later he told me Bobbie came to see me last night.  Bobbie was a nickname for my mother in law, only close friends referred to her as Bobbie. Her children didn't, I didn't, and my son was unaware of the nickname. I asked him if Bobbie was a boy, he said no and went to and pointed to  a photo  of my mther in law, hidden high  on a tall bookshelf, he couldn't see it from his perspective. Her, she came see me.

^ good stuff man

I happened to be at a good friend's hospital bedside as he was passing. He hadn't been able to talk for days. About 15 mins before he slipped out he started speaking very softly, to people in the room I couldn't see. His eyes would focus on an exact spot like the foot of his bed and I thought he was trying to speak to me so I moved over there then he would focus on the other side of the bed and kept talking. I never could make out what he was saying, he spoke too soft.  This went on for about 15 mins till he opened his eyes wide, said something else and slipped on out. Best I can figure it was deceased family members coming to lead him to the greener pastures. It was surreal.

Another time we went to see my wifes grandmother at the hospital as she was getting ready to go. Again about 10 mins before she went she leans up and starts talking at an empty chair in the room. My wife asked who she was talking to and she said 'uncle Ray', her favorite brother.  Uncle Ray had been dead for 15 years at this point but she was talking away to him till she slipped on out. Ol uncle Ray had shown up to escort her to the great beyond.

Just cuz you can't see em, don't mean they're not there, they're everywhere.

Like Bruce says.... you're taught to be afraid of ghosts when you are young. But the older you get, the more you come to know them, appreciate them and are comforted by them. The people don't leave you when you lose them, they walk alongside you.... as you walk hand in hand with your own mortality

so, so far, one floater from a car and one mysterious report from a kid --- where are the reports from adult Zoners who had more verifiable experiences? How come multiple people seldom see a ghost at the same time -- it's more often one-on-one in the middle of the night. Ghosts not allowed out during the day?

I wonder if Bill Maher believes in ghosts.

My only experience has been supposed visits from relatives on their way out. One was my grandfather who passed. On that day I was with a friend hiking out on Utah in the remote Robber's Roost area (Sam's Mesa Box). Upon our return to the vehicle there was a cowboy in the distance. It was weird and out of nowhere, rarely do you bumo into anyone out in this area. He starts walking up the road where the car was parked, and when we got close we were keeping our knives handy just in case, well, we don't know. Any way, we walked up the same road and crested the ridge where my car was and there was no cowboy, no footprints, no nothing. After getting back home I discovered my Pop Pop passed around the time of the cowboy sighting.

I have also had weird bird encounters when my grandmother passed. A squawking red-tail hawk, like I've never heard one. After that dog walk my aunt called in tears and said Mimi just passed. I attribute these to loved ones visiting their earth-bound relatives, sometimes through other's eyes.

Seen some weird things, but never a close encounter with a ghost.

My grandmother is supposedly now a ghost.   The moment she passed away, she visited my mom clear across town.   Later on, after we sold her house, the new owners and their children reported seeing the ghost of an old woman there.  Sure it was grandmother who was fascinated by the supernatural and paranormal and got me interested in that stuff as a kid   Her ghost and her old house are now even on the official list of haunted places in St. Augustine.

The hospital I worked at was known to have several ghosts, including one in the dressing room 20' down the hall from the CAT scan suite where I dwelled.  I worked swing / graveyard for almost a decade, never saw a ghost once.  But, housekeepers would come to visit a few times a year (or month with one gal) freaked out after seeing a ghost.

The most sensitive gal saw them all the time, even held the elevator door open for the elevator ghost, then the door closes, and nobodies there (that really cooked her goose).

She'd see our dressing room ghost once or twice a month (that ghost, an old lady, died from lack of oxygen).

On slow nights, i'd often go to the surgery waiting area to watch TV (about 60' from my suite), then come back during commercials to check the Q and phone messages (I wore a pager too).  On one particular night, I was walking by those dressing rooms, where BTW, we keep the 2 gurneys for CT, Xray, and Ultrasound, and one of the oxygen tanks in its cage on the gurney started shaking violently!  This went on for maybe 20 seconds.  I was standing right next to it, was bizarre, I was looking for hidden fishing line / etc, like it was a prank, but nada.  After checking the Q, I went back, and the cage the O2 tank had been going against gravity, something it's hard to do physically due to the weight of the oxygen tank, so there was no way in hell what I saw was physically possible.

I sense ghosts all the time, and have had a few instances of telepathy with a few friends (confirmed on their end), and had several instances where it felt like a friend said good bye, later to find that was the moment of death, occultic stuff I don't exactly believe it, but can't deny that it might have been possible....

But I can't explain the telekenesis, that was just too freaking weird man....

Alan, you're asking about things that cannot be explained, even by us. Stuff that makes you go woah either happen to you or they don't. It can't be defined by any expectations logic or prior beliefs. C'mon man you know this.

Great stuff people.

To those of you who think when you take your last breath that's it,,, you're wrong. That's when the real fun starts.

Just once.

Better hope he likes onions,,,  looks like he could put some good hauntings on your ass.

I've seen a few, but not this one..

Best one I ever saw was a the Gorge in 97.

My daughter was 9 at the time of one of her after school caregivers passed. My daughter was in Florida and Jean was in NYC in the hospital when she passed sometime in the late evening. Her and my daughter were very close.

i called my kid to tell her that Jean had died ( this was before social media was a big thing ). I said, " hey have you talked to Sally ( jean was foster mom to sally ) today yet ? " she says ' no, but she must be sad '. I asked her why she thought that and she says ' Jean came to me last night as i was laying in bed, she looked younger and pretty , she told me she was dead and that it would be all right, not to worry '

To this day it gives me chills when i recount the story.

ok this is weird ....

I got an email this morning just after I started this thread from an old friend I haven't seen in a dozen years that said she has some sad news about a mutual friend. Then she left a message saying this guy is in the hospital - and it doesn't sound good. Sounded like she said, "he wanted me to contact you." I'm sorta glad he is doing it the old fashioned non-ghostly way.

Perhaps some of you San Francisco  > Reggae on the River people know him -- Morris Jones. Old black hippie dude that used to work shows in Bay area. Good guy. Send vibes.

Nope,  ever seen one and don't believe in them. If others have seen them and do believe, cool with me. Just don't try to push your beliefs on me.

After I was sentenced to Federal Prison in 1982 I visited family in rural Kentucky before turning myself in. We went with my Aunt  to visit my grandparent's', her parents', graves. It was early fall & there was an old wooden country church. My wife took a bunch of photos of me &  my Aunt standing behind their tombstones.

Light is not supposed to bend but in several of the pictures beams of light shot straight up out of their tombstones & then bent @ 90  degree angles.

In one photo one bent & struck her in the side of her head.

In another one the beam bent & hit me in the middle of the chest.

Others had people's faces we did  not  recognize & one had a grave in the sky.

Two years later she died from brain cancer & who knows my fate.

Maybe  it was caused by my emotional state as I was upset.

She kept the photos.

If ghosts are part of the natural world it must take a lot of energy (spiritual, physical, quantum, etc.) to transmit or transport to Earth realms. It must not be easy to do.

Otherwise, every dead person would be doing it willy-nilly, right?  Sounds like you really have to want to show yourself to living humans.

ahhhh Jaz - that's from Damian's Pizza? - delivered within 20 minutes or the driver spends eternity in hell. Always comes with burnt crust.

techo-souza-pizza-from-hell.jpg

Sure did that one time

I was with my friend Dean and we both were silent until it was over so we could corroborate each other's experience

I had a dream just a couple years ago where I was hanging out with my high school sweetheart girlfriend who I dated for about 5 years but hadn't seen in about 25. Her mom was in it also. Don't recall the detail of what occurred in the dream but  I was woken as clear as day by a female voice whispering my name. The next night, no dream but the same voice whispering my name. I found out from a friend about a week later that she had passed away on the day of the first dream, completely unbeknownst to me at the time

I've never seen a ghost, but I do believe in the First Law of Thermodynamics. When we die, our life energy transforms, but into what, I cannot say.

I will say that I'm skeptical of claims wherein a person's identity remains intact post-mortem. That just sounds like magical, or wishful, thinking to me.

>>>>>>To those of you who think when you take your last breath that's it,,, you're wrong. That's when the real fun starts.

Because you've been there, I assume.

And back!

Quite the trick.

YES 1971 Chanting " I Believe In Mary Worth : in a Mirror with my cousins  WE saw her..

< quite the trick

I never said I went anywhere brother.  And if you read others posts here, nobody else did either.

But what some of us did do however is communicate thru dreams with those on the other side, quite unique but no tricks involved. We didn't ask for these things to happen, they just did.

In my cases I was witness to being in a place where both sides were represented. Spirits ghosts or whatever you want to call them, were there, right in that room with me and my dying loved ones. I didn't see em, but they were there.  I believe God sends a loved one to retrieve you back home where we all belong,, yes that's exactly what was happening. Quite special, but no tricks. Maybe that just works for people who have faith, I don't know. All I do know is,,,

We will all be together forever and ever

When we make it to the Promised Land

Belief in ghosts is absolutely no different than belief in god(s). Other than subjective experiences there's no proof. It's simply beliefs.

Although many cultures believe in ghosts, their forms are purely cultural. See this for more: https://www.bustle.com/p/what-ghosts-look-like-in-14-different-parts-of-.... Even in the West, the nature of ghosts has changed over time. This in no different than belief in god(s). It's 100% cultural.

The human mind is very powerful. When a physically abused personality comes out in a person with MPD, it can manifest with raised welts.

The Funky Phantom from Hanna-Barbera Studios.  The worst cartoon ghost ever?

While on the other end of the comic spectral spectrum, there's John Cleese as Nearly Headless Nick from the Harry Potter movies.

>>>> I do believe in the First Law of Thermodynamics

This.  Plus, to think we understand everything going on in the universe(s) is naive.

That sitcom on CBS, Ghosts, is pretty funny. They go on for eternity in the state they died in. One of them got killed in the late 60s while robbing a bank high on shrooms. She's perpetually tripping.

>>Plus, to think we understand everything going on in the universe(s) is naive.

I look at it this way: to think that any species is important enough, in this vast universe, to live on forever is {I'm not sure of the word I'm looking for here, something like self-important}.

Wait bk...you vehemently do not believe in ghosts, but watch CBS' 'Ghosts'?

C'mon man...

He wants to believe.

What Herbal Dave said, on a temporary basis at least, and I won't answer for BK, but i will call dibs on The Willing Suspension of Disbelief for a band name.

I'm naturally very skeptical but I just got the details of my old friend in San Francisco's condition. Like I mentioned, I started this thread about ghosts and then shortly after got a message something sad had happened to the guy, but I didn't know what. Found out today he is in the hospital in a coma since a recent operation. Never woke up from surgery. I don't know why I started thinking about ghosts on a random summer day, but I can definitely imagine Morris floating around dropping in on folks.

Alan, I'm more inclined to ascribe phenomena like you describe to quantum entanglement than to ghosts. Spooky action at a distance is what Einstein called it.

I guess it depends on weather ya have to be a dead person to be a ghost.  So someone in a coma might not be able to be a full-fledged ghost but could still maybe throw some aspect of their being around outside their body.

I'm familiar with quantum entanglement (or as familiar as a regular person can be) but maybe the spirit is completely uncoupled from the physical realm -- even at the sub atomic level. I don't want to know for a few more decades. If you figure it out, get back to me --- as a friendly ghost.

LOL reading some of you trying to explain things you can't fathom, is like watching you same zoners trying to fuck a doorknob.

Funny stuff

trying to explain things you can't fathom is like the point of mankind's existence, no?

what's strange stuff is people praying to a statue of a dead guy on a stick -- oh wait - he's not dead, he's being tortured.

While we're talking about ghosts -- can you explain the Holy Ghost ? I still can't get the One god - no there's' three concept

and whatya got against doorknobs? without em you'd be outside stuck in the rain or crawlin thru a broken window

Doorknob-Girl-Sex-News.jpg

You're all over the place Al,  gimmie a question about anything I posted and I'll be happy to do my best to answer. You wana go Holy, start a new thread.

I will go on to say my dear brother Richard who passed with only me in his hospital room (besides the ghosts) was NOT religious at all, not in the least. He was like Zappa on steroids as far as that goes. But what I experienced that day was much more than just something going on in his mind, it was real stuff.

BTW - my comment on the doorknob humping was directed at bk + mikeee (why does he remind me of mikeee in the Life cereal commercials?)

Sorry Al, paid hookers can never take the place of a zoner.

>Sorry Al, paid hookers can never take the place of a zoner.<

really? If you were young, horny and single and it was the third night of a drug fueled music festival at 7,000 ft in the Fall with a shitty sleeping bag and half full medicine bag of various powders and good weed in a tent by a scenic river and you had the keys to your buddy's plush rv and were looking to stay warm -- you'd still choose the Zoner? And the hooker was already paid so you didn't have to lay out a cent. You are the Pope, man.

LOLOLOL OMG I'm pissin myself

> some of you trying to explain things you can't fathom, is like watching you same zoners trying to fuck a doorknob.

I'm a word guy, Ras, and if I'm not trying to put into words that which cannot be put into words, I'm not heeding my true calling. And If a bit of door hardware debauchery is what's needed to get the job done, so be it. I'll knock knobs with any door.

 > LOLOLOL OMG I'm pissin myself

They have products for that now, you know.

image_84.png

You have it backwards, Ras. I'm not trying to explain anything. You're the one who is doing that. All you're doing is explaining your personal beliefs, not reality.

I don't believe in magic or genies, but I enjoy Bewitched and I Dream of Genie. It's a conundrum.

Bro I've experienced things happen that really only have one explanation. My personal beliefs had zero to do it, like with my dying buddy doing what he did, not me bro, him, a dying atheist was being met by someone, it was plain as the nose on your face.  And my wife's family member wondering why we couldn't see ol uncle sitting in that chair, right there,  that wasn't my beliefs doing that bro.

Shit will be happening in your lives too someday that will make you go hmmmmmm. And when it does I hope you jump right onboard to share it with us like some of these fine people shared their cool stories.

But you're right about one thing - The Spirit moves me, in fact she pushes me on.

Nobody Knows - ABB

Like I said earlier in the thread, believe what you want. If it works for you, great.

Just to add a quick side note to Ras story about the dead being around to gather up their soon to be joining them relative

My 2nd experience with someone actively passing in my presence was the mom of a zoner that went through dementia over a long period of time and I saw her decline personally.

She had been aspirated so she was not conscious, but as the end of her life came, she looked very clearly up to the corner of the room for quite a while and I told her to go with them because they were here to take her home.

After watching the corner for another minute or so she scrunched up her eyes and grabbed onto her blanket as if she was going to jump into a pool, and she was gone with them.

I personally never looked at death that way before but having experienced it with Joan; I believe it because I saw it.

Also:

Ras I continue to adore you and so much wishing you would be in AC this weekend!

What I really believe is some folks are just not open to the experience and so they will never see such things. It's just who we each are as individuals and that's all good.

I am personally still grateful that my father shows himself to me after 14 years because I still miss him as if it was yesterday.

By the way how are we distinguishing between zoners and hookers when paying for sex

Are you trying to say the average zoner will give it away for free??!!!

>>What I really believe is some folks are just not open to the experience and so they will never see such things

You do know that this is exactly the same thing that people say about God, too? "They're not open to the Holy Spirit, so they don't feel it. But it's there."

I think that, as sentient beings, people see, hear, and feel all sorts of things. Different people attribute it to different things. For some it's God, for others is spirits or ghosts, and for others it's just tricks of the mind.

What one believes is what they believe. It doesn't make them any more open or awake. You know, same as with any particular religion.

Here we go -

You love the band, you've sang this song a thousand times, you know you've also felt the afterlife in it.

Then the door was open and the wind appeared
The candles blew and then disappeared
The curtains flew and then he appeared
Saying don't be afraid

Come on, baby (and she had no fear)
And she ran to him (then they started to fly)
They looked backward and said goodbye (she had become like they are)
She had taken his hand (she had become like they are)
Come on, baby (don't fear the reaper)

Also after recent consultations, those that exist in that dimension are offended by terms like apparition + ghost. It's like the n word to em.  With all the gender and political correctness going on, they now preferred to be known as, They They's or Them's.

Since you're in channel mode, Ras, how do they feel about Boo?

E47CBBAA-F179-432B-8B50-BB00E216534B.jpeg

Its a bit fuzzy but all I'm getting is - light up some Boo, light up some Boo

That sitcom on CBS, Ghosts, is pretty funny.

Ugh! The BBC original is so much better! The CBS version is definitely super American TV though. CBS's version is like John Mayer playing/singing Jerry songs. Pretty good, I guess, if you've never heard the real deal.

Ok this was too fuckin weird. My dog is my shadow, he never leaves me, ever. He goes everywhere with me. This morning on our hike up to Nonnewaug Falls (I've posted that plaque that's up there saying Nonnewaug the last chief of his tribe, friend of the white man rests near these falls. I've done some investigation and he's not buried anywhere near the falls, what he did was commit suicide  by plunging himself and his favorite horse off the top falls after that land had been sold to the white man).

Ok fast forward to today, me and my boy cross the gorgeous stream and get to the crest of the hill on the other side and Salem just turns and bolts back the way we just came. I look around and see nothing, I listen hard, nothing. Buy now my mans back across the stream and is hightailing it back down the path to the car, which is a good mile or so away. I see him one more time, about halfway to the car, he just waited to make sure I was coming, then he bolted again and I didn't see him till I got back to the car, and when I opened the door he sprung up like he was shot out of a cannon. He's never ever ever done anything like this before. No yelp like he got stung by a bee, no nothing just ran. He's fine now back to normal at home. Now you've heard of people who have that 6th sense, I'm sure dogs have it too, cuz he saw or felt something I sure as hell couldn't.  I couldn't see who my bro Richard was taking to either, even tho they were right in the room with us. Maybe we can't always see em, but have any of you ever felt, you know,, a presence ?

Saw the band Ghost.  Very approachable melodic metal with evil, evil lyrics:

this is the only Ghost I'll lay claim to believing in. it whispers daily,  smoke me, eat me; bake me and I'll bake you. I'm not scared though.

^ the only ghost ? Really ?

LOLOLOLOLOLOLLLLLL

So you don't even believe in Grateful Dead ? You know, the spirit who helps the dude out with the impossible task ? I'm sure you know the story. Seems kind'a weird to me that you can worship a band and not even really believe in it. I know there's a word for that kind of a thing,  it's just not coming to me right now,, but it's not too flattering I know that.

I bet you love the Mule too Lol Lol Lol there be some real simple minds on this list.

Friends Seen And Unseen

And Those Of You Listening From The Stars

It's just for fun, Ras.  Even a simpleton like yourself should be able to understand that. Is "simpleton" the word which escapes you?p

Took Salem back to the scene of the crime but did not go up that hill on the other side, just hung by the water. After about 10 mins or so I notice he's inching his way up that hill sniffing where he had run his ass off the day before. Very slow and cautiously but he went all the way to the top, scoped it out, then came back down to the water,, faced his fears and now no problems.  Wish I knew wtf he experienced.

Raz, due respect because you are not in the know like I feel like a lot. But as a self- proclaimed Christian should you be so quick to judge others?

It's a ghost strain that works.

Kinda simple ,eh.

Dead stuff, the best stuff.

Possibly the most important beings in all of Tolkien's Trilogy was The Dead.

Everyone think's Frodo was the one, but he never would have made it without Sam. Sam was the man in those chapters.

But if not for The Dead, shit, Aragorn and possibly everything is lost.

The Dead won the battle of the 3rd age and saved Middle Earth.. The Dead, you know em, you love em.

20220817_140854.jpg

If they had been smart, they would have just had the Eagles fly Frodo from the Shire to Mt Doom from the start and saved themselves a lot of trouble

brian the diff for me is that it isn't mystical. it is energy, which we all are.

it is practically science lol
