Hayes Carll tonight in Novato

Forums:

At the Hopmonk.  Anyone else going?  I guess Alex Jordan is opening.

If you are not familiar, this guy is a great singer/songwriter.  And he married one of the hottest women on the planet,  Allison Moorer. I doubt she will be there, but who knows.

one of my favorites with Carrie Ann Hearst from Shovels and Rope

I have not seen either act but would love to.

The video you posted Mark, is my all time favorite music video. Hope you enjoyed the show

Thanks for the video link, Mark.

I'm a huge Hayes Carll fan and I was looking forward to seeing him do Hayes Carll songs with this little known(to me) Band of Heathens as his backup band.

Wow was I surprised!  Turns out, the band of heathens is an exceptional band on their own and this was  every bit a collaboration. I was wondering how Hayes sold out the Hopmonk, turns out most there were there to see the Band Of Heathens.  I look forward to seeing this band(BOH) again in the future.  And if next time Hayes runs through norcal, if they are still together, will enjoy seeing them (together) again.   But between the 2, I would like to hear more HC.  I enjoyed most all of BOH's songs and they are excellent musicians with great vocals.   But Hayes is Hayes and I wanted more.

He did do a great version of "Beaumont". This from ACL.

Help Me Remember Lyrics

[Verse 1]
The leaves on that ancient old oak tree are starting to turn
The same shades as the flames of this fire that I'm watching burn
There's an unfinished crossword resting on the arm of this chair
And for the life of me I can't recall if I'm the one that left it there

[Verse 2]
It feels so familiar as I watch you walk in the room
And at first I don't recognise you but then I damn sure recognise that perfume
And you kneel down beside me and gently take hold of my hand
I say baby I'm scared and I'm not sure I know who I am

[Chorus 1]
And can you help mе remember who it is that I usеd to be?
And can you tell me the story of my family, my hopes and my dreams?
Did I try to stand for something, would I always fold?
Did I do things when I was young to be proud of when I was old?

Was our house on fire or was I just a slow burning ember?
Could you please help me remember?

[Verse 3]
This ring on my finger is golden, faded and worn
Like it was forged in the fires of love and it's weathered the storms
I try to make sense of these old photographs on the wall
But they're just faces and places that I don't know at all

[Chorus 2]
And can you help me remember, I feel like I'm losing my mind
I know there's a story, it's getting harder to find
Did I protect my children, stand up for my friends?
How damage did I do, did I ever make amends?
Did I try to make a difference, did I give a damn?

Was I believer in God and His plan?
Did I light up your life like a full moonlight night in December?
Could you please help me remember?
I need you to help me remember

And he has the hottest wife to boot.

>>>the band of heathens is an exceptional band<<<

You're not hip to my band?

Slacker.

Then where were you last night?

Mark, "Help Me Remember" is an AMAZING song. Was touched by that video a while ago.

He played a venue with his band last summer and I have it video taped. He also did a solo set the next day but I did not attend that. The promoter of the show advertised it as taper friendly, and I've video taped there many times before, but she told me not to tape. I taped Hayes and Sarah Jarosz but she shut me down for Molly Tuttle. She instructed me to not put them online but I probably will soon. I'll let ya know.

That's cool Slick.

Tom. I'm a little slow sometimes.
