Snort some sparkle

glad to be back on board.

i had decided some time ago that the philzone had made me jaded, and overly critical. i wanted to go back to when i was first seeing dead shows and every single song of every single show blew my mind.

unfortunately i am still jaded and dont really see live dead music at all anymore, except for JRAD, so there's no point in staying away.

im out of the loop with nelson and the david-less nelson band projects, and really curious WTF is going on with phil and txr? what happened to PLF? can anyone confirm for me, but it seems like he has not played with any lineups that are not in the basic family band group all year, except for sit ins with other bands? what happened to all the classic PLF players that were coming thru there the past few years? im wondering if it is no longer financially feasible to have bands consisting entirely of folks like herring or medeski when folks will shell out the same cash for TFB?

i have been on a diet of pure JRAD as far as GD music goes. deadco is weak, TFB is a bar band and i havent seen phil play with any solid PLF lineups in a long time.

JRAD at the first bank was one of the best shows ive seen in years. drums>space>darkstar to open the second set with martin and medeski...holy shit. i have never heard the styles of the NYC experimental scene and noise music so seamlessly integrated into dead music before. dead shows often have experimental noise elements, but that was 30 min of pure experimental jazz/noise, where the verses of dark star kinda just happened to be sung.

with a band like that on the road, even just having them come thru the bay once a year, i dont know if i will ever see any of the core four again...whats the point?

big thanks to johnny d and judit for getting me on board

I have a Question for Judit - Why Do You Think SO Many from the Philzone decided Not To Join in to VLZ ? I Miss many of them !!
