Word I learned today: kleptocratic

Well this IS about economics and business, AMIRIGHT???

Absolutely shameless.

I can jog down to Mar a Lago and back from where i sit in about 10 minutes.

When Trump bought the house in 85, i think he paid around 12.5 million for it.

Majorie Post willed the house to the Dept of the Interior because she wanted it to be used for presidents and state department functions. Our frugal govt of the time in the mid 70's gave it back though due to it being too expensive to maintain. The 80's were a strange time in Palm Beach, with lots of the old glory homes going derelict and many being torn down. Whether we like the man or not, his purchase of the home which President Nixon desired back as the "winter White House" ultimately saved the building, and then making it into a club, allowed even more people than ever before the opportunity to enjoy it as well.

From cereal and coffee enemas to orange hair and 25$ cabernet for the Prime Minister of China.

I don't care about the house,  the State department should not be a marketing tool for Trump inc.

Seems like a place that would smell like George Hamilton and gin fizzes.

Referencing Nixon and rich country clubber's is supposed to make us feel all warm and fuzzy about the place?

Reminded me of this...

Didn't china also allow him a bunch of patents for his and his family business, the first 100 days have been very productive

>>> the State department should not be a marketing tool for Trump inc.

agree, yet i think it is shitty marketing, the people that can afford to join that club, from my experience, rarely even have a Facebook account.

so, its really a horribly placed ad, if indeed it were posted with a nod towards marketing the club. if intended fro his brand, i dont see any up and to the right movement from it there either.

>>> to make us feel all warm and fuzzy about the place?

no, it shouldnt, but as I and my friends have restored many buildings from that era in Palm Beach, the learned history of a place and its significant structures and moments are just facts, not emotions. Those are yours to deal with on your own. To enjoy or not.

This is aimed at foreign governments, foreign businesses, and American businesses. If you want access to the President, become a member of the"Winter Whitehouse"

And Trump doubled the membership fee after the election

 Have to pay to play.

Making money off the GOP by charging them rent for his properties. Conflict.

Foreign agents staying at Trump DC hotel, a disgusting misuse of an historical site.    Emoluments issues.  Yes, they announced the proceeds would go to the Treasury but we know about the shady accounting in Trump's foundations.

Fake First Lady Ivanka and her trademarks from China.

on and on...

Hollis, this wasn't posted on Facebook, it was posted on shareamerica.gov, a State Department website.

My parents and Uncle/his wife are down there for their company's retreat right now.  I don't know much else besides that, though.
