Low - Cracker

a million poppies gonna make me sleep

Hey, don't ya wanna go down?

Cracker's been showing up a lot around this place lately.

Cracker van Beethoven

NYC in January

Cracker is great. Almond Grove & King of Bakersfield are 2 of their most recent (3 yrs old?) great tunes. Lots of good concerts on the tube, Knucklehead Saloon from last year is very good

Great album with a cool cover of Loser.   Always get a kick out of Eurotrash Girl.

I saw them at the WHFStival in Washington DC, 1994. Gotta say, they put on a hell of a show. Hearing that song live was amazing. Plus, I was dating/seeing this amazing girl who wasn't as in to me as I was into her and always kept me on a bit of a string so that song made extra sense to me at the time, haha. Sad, but hey, we partied our asses off that day. Counting Crows and Violent Femmes were the other highlights, but I missed Morphine on the side stage since I had no idea who they were (didn't find out until a year or two later when the singer had already kicked it).

Good times, thanks for the flashback. :)

"Get off this" is a great song maybe my favorite song on the album.

"Euro-trash girl" song #69 on Kerosene Hat. You gotta love hidden tracks of the 1990's on cd's like this with songs #69, #88 & #99.

I used to drive to TN from NC when i was dating my first wife. We went to shoot pool one night & she walked to the jukebox & selected some songs. When Euro Trash Girl came on i knew she was the one for me. We never discussed anything other than Allmans since we first met at one of their shows in Knoxville. Fell head over heels as soon as Euro started

Cd's in the 90's were great.  Hitting forward to the next track while the last listed track was ending or setting the cd player on 'repeat all' to catch the hidden tracks.

For a guy that was straying away from GD shows (listening, seeing, and playing new music) in '93, when I got to Loser (thinking it was anything other than GD) I was floored....

For the past 13 or 14 years around the end of august/beginning of september Cracker &  Camper Van Beethoven put on a 3 day 'Camp-Out' (thou, not much actual camping takes place) at Pappy & Harriett's Pioneertown near Joshua Tree. We've made the trip out for two of them. If we had the means we'd go every year.

Fortunately, for the last 5 years they've been putting on an annual 'Camp-In' at the 40Watt in Athens, GA between late Jan and early march. Last years supporting acts included Robyn Hitchcock and Monks of Doom. We've been to all of these and they keep getting better.

Fans travel from all over the country/world for these events. I recommend anyone with any interest in either Cracker or CVB to attend one of these shows.

Also, Monks Of Doom are playing a few very rare shows in the middle of october in the bay area/santa cruz, followed by an appearance at a small festival in new york (underwater sunshine festival or something like that). i flew to philly in may to see them and was blown away again. Their latest album 'the Bronte Pin', the first with original material in almost 25 years, is tremendous. (they put out a covers album  in 2008 or 2009 featuring songs by the likes of Richard Thompson, Gong, Bert Jansch, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Roy Harper, Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, the Kinks, the Red Crayola, the Soft Machine & Wire). Tickets for the west coast shows will be around $10 or $12 so you aren't risking much if you take the chance.

We've got tickets for a David Lowery solo show at Eddie's Attic here in GA thanksgiving weekend. His last solo show had Cracker's peddle steel player Matt Stossel sit in the whole show and it was incredible.
