Hot Fuckin Tuna--The Fillmore, SF 2-19-2017

Forums:

Let’s see, 1976 to 2017—41 years of seeing live Hot Fuckin Tuna, Jack, Jorma solo, Vital Parts, Space Rats, SVT and all the incarnations.  Something like 200+ shows and well, here we go again.  The very first show Bill Graham put on at the Fillmore was December 10, 1965, when Bill Graham produced a San Francisco Mime troupe benefit (Jefferson Airplane with Great Society and Mystery Trend; the Warlocks, (later the Grateful Dead), kicked off the show.  So, nobody goes back further than Jorma and Jack with the Fillmore and at 76 and 71 respectively, Jorma and Jack thunder on.  Some photos and videos to share from last night.

Sweet !

That is not a set list for the faint of heart. Looks like they were not taking prisoners.

Hate to be a party wrecker but the Mime Troupe Benefit was held in a loft they used on Howard Street, not the Fillmore.

"As for the Mime Troupe’s feisty manager, he threw a benefit for the group at its Howard Street loft, hiring an unknown band with the weird name Jefferson Airplane. When the benefit made a staggering $4,000, another career path beckoned Bill Graham."

Actually Thom, Bill Graham's first show at the Fillmore was also a Mime Troupe Benefit, and the OP was talking about the first show at the Fillmore, not Graham's first event ever.

This isn't a politics thread Thom, let's keep it accurate.

Ah, good to know, thanks for the correction.

Nice entry on this, interesting stuff:

My pleasure Thom.

And small apologies for the small politics poke.

I couldn't help myself.

ELECTRIC Tuna

chords

eyebrows

fingers

thumping

and the chords, my lord the cords - the harmonics were flooring from single notes laid atop one another-as well

power trio last night,(reminded me of Cream ala 1968 with a lesser drummer)   Jorma was pretty spectacular too

Brother Thom2

Thanks for the input.  You can't believe everything on Wikipedia my brother.  The first show at the Fillmore was as I mentioned--Graham held other Mimie Troupe benefits with that lineup before the Fillmore gig.  And if you don't believe me, go to the Fillmore's website--I think they know their history better than Wikipedia

JACK WAS SLAMMING!
