Jorma and Jack are out touring.  I took road trips up north to Mount Vernon, Washington on Thursday to see them at the Lincoln Theatre and south to Tacoma last night at the Rialto Theater.

Got second row in Mount Vernon and front row right in front of Jorma last night.  I only snapped a couple of blurry shots of them playing, as I didn't want to interrupt the master class unfolding in front of me.   They're both in great form.  Watching from that close, it was easy to see them playing off each other.

Both venues were real nice old theaters with stellar acoustics.  Packed houses both nights of mostly quiet and appreciative audiences made for a wonderfully mellow atmosphere.

These guys are treasures.  Wish we still had Jerry and John around too.

Don't miss this if it's passing through.

Thanks for the photos and review. I'm seeing them in Portland tonight and very much looking forward to catching the duo.

Saw them last Friday in Park City. Thought it was an excellent show. They did 4 shows over the weekend and I think delved into a lot of different material. Glad I went. And yes, they are in fine form.

Todd (Moses) and Rail Rider (Air Drummer) and I are seeing them Monday night at the McDonald in Eugene. First row balcony.

I think I remember that Surfdead and Mrs. Surfead are going to be there but seats on the floor.

I'm looking forward to it. They seem to be the only live music I go to, something like once a year (beside my friend's band who play outside that I go to dance to). I still don't go to indoor gatherings (Covid cautious) and lack of funds. I had a Covid booster last week, not quite 2 weeks but I'll mask. Yay Hot Tuna!

Fantastic show tonight. Great setlist and playing between the two fellas. Go if you can.

Hi Judit! Yes, we will be there, on the floor - row F.

See you there.

Whole McDonald seated, interesting.

enjoy the show zoners!

Wishing the folks in Eugene a great Tuna show tonight

It was Hot Tuna!

I took a friend who has never heard them and she had a lovely evening with Jack and Jorma (and me, Todd, J, and a couple of other friends of mine). We never saw Surfdead, though I looked from our seats.

I was mesmerized, thrilled, happy. But I heard one thing that I've never heard before, which was Jorma's guitar playing sounding almost one note. Like almost everything sounded in the same key; could that be? It was interesting. Jack sounded like he was playing everywhere and everything, and wow.
Again, I was happy, just wonder if Jorma sounded that way to anyone else.

Judith - during the show in Portland there were a few songs where my wife and I looked at each other and said 'didn't they just play that?'.

In total we thought it was a great show with an A plus setlist. And wonderful to get to see those two gentlemen again.

Glad you got to go, Mike. Our experiences with Jack and Jorma lift us.

I think there's a rule that all our singin' heroes of the past - think Dylan, Weir, and now Jorma - have to "reinterpret" their catalog when they get close to 80.

Usually to the detriment of the songs.

Jorma is still a master of the guitar, but the excessive syncopation in both his singing and playing doesn't really serve the music IMO.

Jack was amazing as always.

That said, it was still a great show - this could be the last time, I don't know. They played almost all of my faves except Water Song.

We looked for you in the balcony, Judit, but couldn't find you.
