Hurricane Florence

Forums:

Looking like this one could get ugly for the Carolinas.

Talking a possible Thursday landfall.

Be careful folks.

Supposed to be a cat. 4.

Please be safe.

Just two days ago they were saying how Florence posed "no threat to land".

The best hurricane site

Looks like Hawaii is going to get hit again as well, and don't ignore that tropical depression south of cuba. I don't think I've ever seen a world map with 5 active hurricanes all at once.

South Carolina ordering evacuations for all coastal areas....;(

Hopefully the hurricane path will narrow significantly and only destroy everything within the Beltway.

She was the daughter of a wealthy Florentine Pogen.

Hope Auntie Flo doesn't cramp your style.

Stay safe, Carolinas.  That's a scary stat, El nino.

People tell my sister she looks like Flo from Progressive.  She went to work as Flo one year for Halloween.

This readily applies to emergency preparedness in general;

"Hazardous conditions can occur outside of the cone."

Although possessing a female name, Florence looks like a giant dick in VC's second pic.

Yeah I thought it was a dick at first but at second glance it appears to be actually forecasting the hurricane. Either way it appears that the Carolinas are getting fucked.

Hope they don’t need any help from FEMA or they might get DP’ed.

Hmm, what rhymes with a warm and moist Carolina?

In a few days it will be very wet

^ my sister in NC sent me that picture and said it definitely looks like a huge one.

I've got lots of friends and family in the path of Flo,  fingers crossed some don't lose everything!  Since I'm home this week, i'll be posting the typical satellite and eventually local radar images, along with some storm reports.  One scary aspect, it's been raining in that area for quite a while, and everything's saturated, and there are already one or 2 rivers near flood stage right now (fortunately most have settled down), so as much as I love spoofing things, this really is going to be a very nasty storm, and the flooding could be the worse we've ever seen down there.

Here's some river / tidal levels to watch;

The hoopla concerning this storm is dying fast. Trump prepping for victory lap.

It appears to be a big flop

yea 400k people without power, and 10 foot waves,,,,total bust

Mangkhut > Florence

U.S. Southeast power companies said over 722,000 homes and businesses located mostly in North Carolina and South Carolina were without power on Friday after Hurricane Florence hit the coast.

Florence crashed into the Carolinas on Friday with 90 mph (144 kph) winds, torrential rains and a powerful storm surge before slowing to a pace that meant it would plague the area with days of flooding.

Duke Energy Corp, the biggest utility in the area, with over 4 million customers, estimated the storm could cause between 1 million and 3 million outages. Restoring power to all customers could take weeks, it said.

Duke said it had more than 20,000 personnel ready to start fixing outages as soon as conditions allowed, including over 8,000 from Duke’s Carolinas utilities, 1,700 from the Midwest, 1,200 from Florida and 9,400 from other utilities.

(Reuters)

5 dead and 750,000 homes without power...once again, this is no little storm, and the rainfall alone is causing once in a generation flooding....
