I miss the old zone.

I just ate day old Pepe's white clam pie.

I don't know what your OP means, but the subject says enough for me. I think almost all of us miss the old zone in a very big way.

CRY ME A RIVER SLACKS = BARNEY !

I heard about the pizza on the old zone.

My wife was in Connecticut this week. She had pizza last night.

I just ate the leftovers. (Insert comments about nasty day old clam pie)

Sweet offer; no spot taken. I'm not the type to kiss and tell.

I've been here since 2013

Some dude in CO stole a goat

How many CO zoners were there?

Jerseyland has about the Finest Pizzerias in the nation, and some Krap ones.

Iowa's Best is absolute garbage compared to a third-rate Jerseyland Pizzeria on an off day.

My Favorite Cheese-Steak here in Jerseyland Destroys the Entire Colorado -> Idaho Region liek Original Godzilla stomping Mothra.

However, you have Better Snow.

Stu - Where can I get a good Italian hot dog in Jersey? I'm gonna be down there this weekend.

I miss the kind and friendly old Zoners.

The only constant in life is change.  If we want to improve VLZ it's up to us.

Jerry, I've heard conflicting opinions on Joe-Joe's in toms river. I can't offer an opinion as it's been more than 40 years since my last hot dog.

>>>I miss the kind and friendly old Zoners

Me too, Sixy.

Remember when you were kind of a Bliss Ninnie before you went full-on troll?

Remember when Dogman was all peace and love when he first showed up? I think it helped excuse some of his later behavior for some.

Good tactic

image_466.jpg

What is it with all these nostalgia threads?

Dogman was peace and love?

Seriously?

This was obviously well before his infamous 10-20 various "Eat a dick, Bri"-threads-a-day period.

I guess dude was even more of a complex equation than I initially thought.

Hmm, I hope he is calm and more relaxed - wherever he is.

UncMozo --

I can not offer an opinion about the Italian Hot Dog, because I'm more into the Cheese Steak or Roast Pork / Broccoli ¬ Rabe sandwich theme.

If you'll be visiting the Trenton, Princeton, Hamilton areas, or even Jackson twp. I can tell you various spots which are pretty good.

My favorite all-purpose Italian Food spot locally is "Ninuzzo" at the junction of rte. 537 & rte. 539. They offer fancy table cloth meals, but also a full-service takeout menu. Their traditional Calamari is  absolutely top-notch.

I must agree with Stu vis a vis the pizza/cheese steak dynamic.

The cheese steaks I used to get at Aljon's in Hightstown killed most Philadelphia joints.

The truth, as much as it hurts, will set you free.

See,  Stu's got it,

See the cheese steak?  Be, be the cheese steak.  smiley

Firebird,

Aljon's is still going strong. Last time I stopped in, everything was perfect.

Also Hightstown has had an infusion of Good, interesting ethnic restaurants last few years.

There's a Jamaican place, couple Mexican joints and some South-American takeout spot.

The Jamaican place was totally awesome when I tried it.

>>>Remember when Dogman was all peace and love when he first showed up?

I do, yeah. The interesting thing is that he really is like that in 3D. Totally mellow stoner dude who loves animals. For real.

Good to hear.  I worked at Farrington's Music in Hightstown for a couple years before going back to playing full time, some in the Princeton store.

I lived in Robbinsville, a couple years in Princeton, and Cranbury. 76 - 83. Fond memories.

I'm driving to Long Beach after work. I can't wait to eat some genuine Southern California cuisine.

>>I can't wait to eat some genuine Southern California cuisine.

So that means it includes avocados, right?

Herbal D, you should check out ThePervZone.net.

0 nostalgia and tons of Stones threads.

That's funny, Mr. Firebird.

My first rental Acoustic was from Farrington's when I started taking lessons about 1978.

You very well may have been the personnel who helped me select it, a low-budget beginner instrument.

It was only 2-3 months before I grew out of it and got a slightly better instrument.

The action and tone were just atrocious; I forget which Chinese brand it was.

>>> The cheese steaks I used to get at Aljon's in Hightstown killed most Philadelphia joints.

Likewise. I have always loved the hoagie/cheesesteak joints in Wilmington where I grew up. Never saw them use the cheese whiz, which I assumed was used just to crank out volume at places like Pat's/Jims etc. .

Nor*Cal doesn't know what an avocado is for. They make drinks with them.

About 1990 - ish my Buddy R. was living in Philadelphia attending Grad School for p;H.d in USA History.

So one day we decided to do the Cheese Steak Trifecta; Pat's + Jim's + Geno's all in one afternoon, long ago.

We did accomplish that. You can get Provolone instead of Wizzz, but you must request it.

Slackderp, between running a business, doing volunteer work and caring for my aging parents, I don't have time to spend on the inter webz all day.

Your insinuations that I am a perv are insulting and baseless.

What a pathetic creep you are.

White american on a cheesesteak; provolone on the hoagie. C'mon, Stu.

Wizz is the regionally correct choice for a cheese steak, yes?

My mom is from Philadelphia, and my grandfather used to take us to Pat's when we went back east to visit. He always ordered wizz, so that's what we got.

That is very funny, Stu.  I could have been there then. Old Mr. Farrington was a good guy and good to me but he just would not keep up with the times about getting better quality instruments. That and I got an offer I couldn't refuse to join a money making country band was why I left.  He wrote me a great reference letter.

Small world as they say.

(((Insinuations)))

NedB's comment reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Principal Skinner has the Superintendent over for dinner, but burns the Roast, and serves "Steamed Hams" instead. There's some banter over terminology liek Syracuse vs. Schenectady vs. Rochester names for Hamburgers.

So the USA white cheese-product must be a Delaware thang.

In Jerseyland it's Provolone, unless you have an arrangement with the proprietor for some other Cheese.

Stu - thanks for the suggestions. I'll be in Dunellen checking out Beer For Dolphins. Know any place along Rt. 22? Sounds like I'll be a bit North of you.

It was practically the same shit

Not 100% certain, but I believe Farrington's has gone away.

I actually think it makes sense to have crummy instruments as rentals for beginners.  Kids break stuff or neglect it.

Plus they bring them on the bus to/fro school with the cardboard cases in varying Weather conditions. So if they practice and learn some scales, they can ditch that beginner Guitar or Cello and put that allowance $$ toward the 2nd-hand Guild w/ hardshell case.

There are still two Ma & Pa music shoppes in the area; Russo's near Gropp's Lake and The Music Box in Hamilton twp.

They both depend upon rentals and lessons for steady income. Russo's has huge High-School Band rental inventory, Music Box not that much.  It's the same old Dude at Music Box who's always run it. My Hüsky is allowed there.

I'll vouch that javadave is a stalky perv.

Mr. Jerry H. --

Dunellen is a good Hour + north of me, but my buddy lives near there not far from the I-287.

If you will be around there this weekend, I will call and ask about the Best Pizzerias in the region.

One thing for sure -- plenty Good Indian / Pakistani restaurants in the Greater Edison area, if you like that stuff.

I didn't insinuate that Herbal D was perverted.

And I lied about the Stones threads. They only discuss GD over there.

> White american on a cheesesteak; provolone on the hoagie.
> Wizz is the regionally correct choice for a cheese steak, yes?

If by "regionally correct" you mean the south side of Philly, then yes; that is correct. When I used to make them at a place at 24th & Fairmount (north of Center City) in the early 80s, we used white American cheese on cheese steaks and on hoagies.

Those are some unfair unwarranted perv accusations there folks, uncalled for to say the least.

Prolly just the day old clam pie talking

>Roast Pork / Broccoli ¬ Rabe sandwich theme

Now we're talking.  w/sharp provolone on top.

Italian hot dog = sausage, peppers and onions on a roll.

I'm not to good to admit that I'm a perv.

Didn't JD bang his friend's wife while he was in the kitchen eating Fruit Loops?

An admission is different than an accusation.

JD was bsing on that one, if true there is a different word for that, maybe sick fuck.

No, fog, a sick fuck mutilates a dead bear.

I had the chance to meet Mr. Java Dave a few years back, and he was a perfect Gentleman, with a strong Work-Ethic and entrepeneurial skills.  Nicest Fellow you'd ever meet. That Dude went out of his way to rescue me from airport layover Heck, and show me some Cool spots around Seattle. Thanks again, Dave.

We went for some snacks (they starve you on coach flights) and went to a small Venue with a Fine Band, and I actually got to meet Mr. BigJonnyT that evening. Mr. Dave also gave me the Tour of his Groovy Record Shoppe, which was pretty Neat-O.

The negative comments expressed are just from lowlife Jackasses.  You naughty critters should apologize.

Dude also comes up with some interesting posts regarding Euro Stones tours and such.  A classic Zoner and Friend of Ours.

johns roast pork cheesesteak w/ mild prov and ernions ftw.

Wrong Ned, a sick fuck bangs his friends wife while the husband is in the kitchen eating fruit loops.

Nice Java Dave story Stu.

Hey, that's the story he brought here. I never heard the retraction.

How can you even remember that far back dude, thats over ten years right??

We should have a PZ time era chart, humping the corpse, kona, valville, JD, ect ect..

If it's a Breakfast - Cereal fornication, no Froot Loops.

Crunch - Berries or forget it. Just the 'Berries', thanks devil

Fog, I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday. The human brain is a funny thing.

Serious, some folks must have a spreadsheet about this place.

Claymont Steak Shop, American (or Prov), fried onions and ketchup.  That was the deal. Most of the pizza/c-steak/hoagie/sub places in the burbs around Philadelphia serve it up that way. No wiz offered. The wiz was for tourists, but still tasty after a night on south street or the Vet.

Oh and zoning, it is what you make it but I miss some of the characters.

Fog on the wrong side of history in this thread, as usual.

> a sick fuck bangs his friends wife while the husband is in the kitchen eating fruit loops

My guess was that Colonel Mustard did the deed with Miss Scarlet and a candlestick in the library.

Jerry, Little Nicky's Italian Hot Dogs is in South Plainfield.  Close to Dunellen and makes a great Italian hot dog.

>> Claymont Steak Shop

Now we're talkin'.

I used to work down the street when I was a teenager at Wick's Ski Shop :)

Can you guys stop encouraging disco stu please?

thanks

Can you guys encourage old or new Zoners to start posting, please?

Ned, what's your opinion on the best cheese steak place in Denver?

I've been going to Taste of Philly on E. County Line. It's decent.

Yeah Nedb I knew that would get ya.  I bought my first tent at Wicks on Phil Pike! Small world.

Good idea Judit.

So. Philly Cheesesteak at 22nd & Oneida.

I've tried Stueben's, but it's too snooty.

constable.075_0_0.jpg...

>Can you guys stop encouraging disco stu please?

Sure thing.

Hey Stu!  Any new dog pics?

I've spoken with a few zoners who elected not to make the transition. Most of them feel like VLZ is suffering from generally boring content, and I think a few of them still have reservations about Judit's role as administrator.

I disagree with both points; but to each their own.

The few I've spoken too just really don't want anything to do with 80% of Zoners.

Also, the lack of big Phil news anymore.  It's not like 2000-2007 when there were new setlists to check out all the time and Phil was playing wth new and interesting lineups.

>>>PhillyCheesesteak at 22nd & Oneida.

Ive been there a few times (think maybe from one of your recs years ago?) and it is good.

>>>I've tried Stueben's, but it's too snooty

Yeah I hear ya. Their fried chicken is also pretty good, but the vibe has always been a little weird in there. I do enjoy the food tho.

I can't even fathom making a conscience decision of  'I WILL NOT VISIT THE NEW PZ!'.  It's fucking crazy.  Boycotting a website?  Lol

The new zone is very sausagey.

Hopefully this thread will act as a beacon to attract female zones. There is only so much I can do on my end to attract them with fashion and skin care advice.

I've never wanted anything to do with 80% of the Zoners. That shit doesn't keep me away!

Good to see Gravy in here..

Yea, Brick, Crypt and Key would be a good start.

What's Brian k crying about this time?

JR, why do you want my attention so badly? I swear, first post in days and you're all over it.

As an FYI, I have a thing for ASCII art. It makes me want to ead.

Fog, what's your favorite pastry?

Is it Bearclaws?

Mark have you ever tried a cheesesteak at the place at Colfax and Franklin? Bourbon Grill?

Counter service to the street. Always a line.

A lot of the cheesesteak magic is in the roll.

Years ago, when I managed a deli/grill, we'd get our rolls air-freighted in weekly from Philly. The Amoroso rolls made all the difference.

>> The Amoroso rolls made all the difference.

Yes. The theory is the sediment in the Delaware Valley give it the chew.

No Mr Pinball Wizard and please don't mention pastries i'm on a diet. lol

I miss Phili and The Tower Theatre.

Hi ho the Carrion Fog Folderolderiddle

Even on my favorite table
He can beat my best.
His disciples lead him in
And he just does the rest.
He's got crazy flipper fingers
Never seen him fall...

That deaf, dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pinball.

What's your Indian name?

Dances with Vultures?

Actually i don't have one, are you naming me that?

6 minute response time Brian? Come on you can do better than that.

Sorry, man, I can't always be here for you when you need me.

Fog's tribal name is Squirrel Beard.

>>>>Mark have you ever tried a cheesesteak at the place at Colfax and Franklin? Bourbon Grill?

You know Ned I actually ate there probably 10 years ago after a day drinking expedition to Sancho's. Can't say I remember much about the experience.

Worth a stop the next time I'm in Cap Hill?

Dances with Vultures it is, thanks Timmy.  Sorry Mark, that name is insulting and not nice.

Ive never tried it.

I now have a serious hankering for a cheese steak.

You should embrace 'Squirrel Beard', Fog. As a long-time smoker of American Spirits, I am well qualified to assign tribal names.

The old place was definitely more active

We need more content about Ohio. I met some true heads from Canton

when I moved up here twenty years ago.

Mark, lets not deteriorate the thread with insults.

We need some more Heybrochachos around here.

Can anyone look at these folders or is it just users?

Ned, I believe it was you and some other zoners that gave some great info on where to live in Denver when I came here asking for my son who moved there in February. He is living between Cherry Creek and Monteclair historic district and he loves it there. Thanks again

Now I can pass him some info on where to eat. Im coming out this summer and hopefully I can buy a few rounds of cold ones for the colorado zoners, and thank ya'all properly

Lurkers gonna lurk, i believe they can.

Slacker, I grew up in Canton, but pulled out in 84-85, I may know some of them heads

We would love to host you, Fabes.

Ned might even let Nick out of his cage for a supervised visit.

Thanx St Mark,  I will wear by Browns shirt in Nick's honor, and suffer all of the mocking that it deserves

It was my old boss Dane and two of his friends, Eric and Chris. I think Dane also lived in Florida for a bit before coming out west

and staying. He showed me a picture of Marilyn Manson during high school when he was still Brian.

Brian went to school for a bit at Glenoak with my brother. They didnt hang hang out or anything. Im a bit older. My brother is a head too and possibly knows your friends, I dont reconize the names, and I put Canton behind me probably when your friends were still in HS. Canton was great place to grow up and a great place to leave.

OK Jerry H.

Spoke with Dunellen local.

He says "Alfredo's" is good. Easton Ave. Franklin township.

Also there is some pinball arcade nearby.  That's all the info I got.

I'm glad Eddie got himself banned.

image_467.jpg

There are now a total of two biological women on this thread. That's one thing this new place lacks is females like there were on the PZ. No thanks to all the creeps who blew it. Assholes. Now you can have your big jerk off fest. Fucking geeks.

Does this mean its ok for us to use the ladies room??

I'm happily married.

lol jamby.... i wont say nothin!

So Alfredo's has the "Italian Hot Dog" and many other delicacies.

http://www.cafealfredos.com/page_menus.aspx?ref=12

Good luck with all that.  Hope you have a nice visit to Jerseyland.

http://www.cafealfredos.com/page_about_us.aspx

At the very least, it means we can leave the seat up with impunity, Jambone.

jonny prefers a sword fight.

Damn, did ya see the couch? Flowers? flat screen tv  Wtf???

Im stayin in here

(((Crossing streams)))

JR thats not what you said the other night!!!

Jambone, I've never known a toilet to discriminate. Have at it!

I'd sit on jambone's face but that's about it.

Yet, there are some things even a lab rat wont do....

Are you a manscaper, JR? I want to make sure that I'm visualizing this correctly.

Ooo is this a big dick contest?!

No need to continue arguing.

It's me.
