Meanwhile, today will be
Meanwhile, today will be Seattle's 11th consecutive day with no precipitation, puttting us in reach of the January record dry spell of 15 days in 1963. We did have consecutive atmospheric rivers cause widespread flooding before the dry period, but it's been one of the worst ski seasons ever here.
Don't know if it was the overnight sub-freezing temperature, but an underground city water pipe outside my building burst on Wednesday, causing flooding into my store. It shut us down for six hours, but between a wet-vac and some teamwork, we kept the water from damaging any of our merchandise or property until the city turned off then diverted the leak. We were fortunate this happened during business hours, allowing an immediate response. If it had happened overnight, it would have been a much more catastrophic mess to deal with.

Damn Dave. That sucks but glad the records didn't get soaked.
Yep. Unusually dry up here in the PNW with snow packs across Oregon at about half where there are supposed to be. Ski areas are closing and not a good sign for the upcoming summer.
Stay safe everyone and hope this storm comes in weaker than projected.

Meanwhile, in usually dry
Meanwhile, here in usually-dry southern California, we've had about 18 inches of rain since September 1st, which is double the annual rainfall we get here many years. Not much snow though.
Sounds like you've the basics covered and then some, jazfish. Leaving a faucet slightly open to let some water flow through your plumbing should keep your pipes from freezing.

Best wishes, jaz. Im just north of Dallas for the weekend. My teacher had to cancel weekend ceremonies as I was driving down. Called to let me know it would just be me, him, and one other experienced pilot for the weekend. Nursing my first ever ayahuasca hangover. Supposed to have rolling blackouts here too, maybe 3/4 inch of ice. Probably won't notice anything tonight, but tomorrow might be challenging )

Western North Carolina here,
Western North Carolina here, just east of Franklin. My wife and I packed up our dogs and belongings last March and left the "Free State of Florida", after a lifetime of living there on the southeast coast. Earlier in the week the forecast was for a possible 18-20" of snow, latest prediction for here about an inch of sleet followed by freezing rain and ice. It's all new for us flatlanders, but we have a generator, gas stove and gas log fireplace for when the power goes out. Stay safe everybody.
