And while we're talking history, let's not forget the indigenous people (who were themselves displaced immigrants) practiced plenty of genocide and slavery themselves. "Indians" were not some monolithic gentile, compassionate culture... remember the Mayans and Aztecs -- not nice guys to "outsiders"
