FYI ssia

Bump for those interested in the proceedings.

Reuters says the ICJ International Court of Justice will deliver a decision some time today.

hoping this farce gets the treatment it deservrs and Israel ensures this never happens again.  Don't dance with the devil and claim you are innocent bystander

"Israel is not a member of the court and does not recognise its authority."

convienient.

So weird, how is Israel not a part of the ICJ?! Why is Israel excluded?

International Court of Justice wiki
The International Court of Justice, also called the World Court, is the only international court that adjudicates general disputes between nations, and gives advisory opinions on international legal issues. It is one of the six organs of the United Nations, and is located in The Hague, Netherlands. Founded in 1945

Israel ratified the Geneva Conventions on July 6, 1951. Israel has not signed or ratified the 1907 Hague Regulations, but the Israeli High Court has found that the 1907 Hague Regulations are part of customary international law, and thus binding on all states, including those not party to the treaty.

OK I admit I'm confused lol.

Per AJ: The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has delivered its ruling on the emergency measures requested by South Africa in its genocide case against Israel over its war on the Gaza Strip.

The court said, among others, that Israel must take steps to prevent acts of genocide in Gaza but stopped short of ordering a ceasefire.

The ICJ is like a dog with no teeth, no bite

They cannot enforce shit

The fighting will stop once Hamas returns the hostages.

It puts Israel on notice and although the ICJ can't really enforce anything, the ruling will further isolate Israel from the world community if they don't clean up their act when it comes to civilian casualties.

I saw a recent poll that shows that a majority of Israelis now support a US backed plan that calls for normalization of relations with Saudi Arabia in exchange for the eventual creation of a Palestinian state recognized by the US and Israel (currently 140 countries recognize Palestinian statehood but the US and Israel are not on the list).

On the upside, the daily death count is already down by over 50% (The Decline of Deaths in Gaza - The New York Times (nytimes.com)), and the ratio of civilians to combatants has flipped. On the downside, it's a humanitarian crisis that will lead to deaths due to starvation and disease. That needs to be addressed pronto, and the hostages shouldn't have any bearing on that.

It's only going to stop when Bibi and his coalition of pigs is gone. They don't give a fuck about anything but their own twited agenda, which is more than just getting rid of Hamas. The pressure is mounting in Israel for a new election.

BK-We agree!

I'm not an idealogue. I'm a realist who also cares deeply about human lives, and I have throughout this conflict. My guess is that most of us agree on a great deal more than we disagree.

I feel badly for Israelis in that they're yoked to Bibi' and his coalitions actions until they find a way to oust him. He's deliberately taking everyone down with him in my opinion.

Yes. Hamas is also deliberately taking everyone down with them. And if Trump gets elected here, he will also deliberately take everyone down with him.

Add Putin. Add Kim.

some hopeful news;

>Talks intensified Sunday on a potential agreement under which Israel would pause military operations against Hamas for two months in exchange for the release of more than 100 remaining hostages, according to multiple media reports.

The proposal includes the release of the remaining women, elderly and injured hostages in the first 30 days, and for Israel to allow more humanitarian aid into Gaza, the Associated Press reported, citing three U.S. officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive negotiations. The New York Times reported that negotiators have developed a written draft agreement merging proposals offered by Israel and Hamas...

Afrikaaners trumpeting the call for human rights?  That's rich.

The ANC has been the ruling party in South Africa since the end of apartheid and is especially sensitive to the issue.

yeah, why would they have any insight?

Meh.  More like International Kangaroo Court.

The ICC (the world court) is a function of the United Nations, of which the United States is an original and permanent member via treaty.

Treaties, of course are the supreme law of this land; as clearly prescribed by the United States Constitution in article VI clause 2.

It was the general assembly of the United Nations which adopted the resolution to create an independent Israeli state in Palestine in the first place.

Unless one simply doesn't believe in constitutions or treaties (Anarchists), you can't have it both ways.

Is it International Brotherhood Week again?

you got any substance to add?

lol Nety called the USA his "best friends" oh goodie ww3 here we come

>>>their own twited agenda<<<

I don't know if "twited" was a mistake, but I like the word.
