iPhone question

Forums:

How do I get out of private browsing? I am using a new-to-me older iPhone SE (new model) and accidentally hit private browsing. I'd like to get out of it but can't figure it out. Help!

State of mind: Just spent more than an hour on a 3-way call with my sister who gave me the phone and whose Verizon account I'm on, and a Verizon rep who kept breaking up. We were trying to get my phone number to activate on the new phone with many holdups. Arghhh. So the number worked for one test call from the rep but after that anyone calling me it getting my voice mail and the phone isn't ringing. I'm fried and haven't looked into where I might find answers to that.
Arghhh again.

Try restarting the phone. None of your apps should be open once it's restarted.

I tried that, and when I went to the browser it was still in Privacy mode.

To turn off private browsing on an iPhone SE, you need to open Safari, tap the "Pages" icon (two overlapping squares), and then tap "Private" to toggle it off. You can then choose an open tab or the Start Page to continue browsing with private browsing disabled.

Hope this helps. The pages icon will be on the bottom ribbon under where you would type a website address.

Thank you, I've tapped the "Private" but wasn't sure it was changing anything. I think it has changed. Why have the "Private" where it's so easy to accidently touch it? I think you gave me some confidence in going forward. Thank again.

The answer was to swipe the whole Safari dashboard (or whatever it's called) to the left to remove private browsing, to the right to use it.

I had to go to the Verizon store to get the phone to work. The problem was that there were 2 SIM cards! The second was the eSIM that the rep on the phone had me download. The only real weirdness now is that there is an unknown phone number as the "Primary" number and my number is the "Personal" number. I'll have to go back to the Verizon store to fix that.

I also have a landline, it is very easy to use.
