It's September, what are you listening to?

Forums:

This was a very influential album for me growing up.  It came out the year after I started learning guitar, and was the first time i'd heard a "fretless" guitar.

Katie Harkin guitar, keyboard, backing vocals

Show Notes: A hometown show to end the current leg of the tour, and a terrific show to boot, this is one tight band, and the addition of Katie Harkin on keys and guitar really helped flesh out some of the songs. Highlights included Depreston which I thought sounded great and featured a terrific singalong by the crowd which I don't think Courtney was expecting. A few different songs played at this show compared to the previous setlists on this tour (eg. Lance Jr, Nobody Really Cares If You Don't Go To The Party), and some great covers. A brilliant show to end this leg of the tour!

Recording Notes: Sounds excellent, I always seem to be able to get great recordings at Festival Hall. Nice and crisp sounding, and minimal talking around me. Normalising and increasing the treble are the only adjustments I needed to make. Enjoy!

Nanuet, New York

Source - Analog Master Audience Cassette: Maxell UDXLII-90
Mics: Nakamichi CM-100's w/ CP-1 Cardioid capsules
Record Deck: Nakamichi 550

Digitized @ 44/16 via IDT Hi-Def Audio Codec and SoundForge

SoundForge was also used for fades in & out where the master was cut - no lost
music, but it was pretty damn close sometimes. This was maybe the 3rd live show
I ever recorded, so cut a guy some slack. :)

Also tracked (on whole second boundaries - sbes?! WHAT sbes????) in SoundForge.
Encoded to flac (level 6) via TLH. (To be clear ... I DID check for sbes ...
there were none to correct. Thanx for demonstrating that I in my attempt
to be snide, I did not make that point clear, Noah.)

I don't waste time with CDs anymore (making the whole sector boundary thing
irrelevant to me, y'know), so I'll let y'all figure out where to divide discs
yourselves. The tape flip was between Rancher's Daughter & Red Hot Women,
and the tune indicated below as filler was at the end of Side A of my
cassette. More about that below ...

NRPS opening for Willie Nelson & the Grateful Dead - with the above exception,
to my vague recollection, all tunes in the 9/2 set had also been performed at
this show (7/28/78), which was a far superior recording. So, it seems that
this was was all that I chose to keep from my master of the 9/2 NRPS set,
that it must be 1st gen. copy, and that I had more room for ir at the end of
Side A of my 7/28 master than on Side B.

New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival
Fairgrounds, New Orleans, LA

The original DAT had an odd quality to the high frequencies, with
some occasional noise (wind, perhaps). This was NOT the result
of the DAT > CDR transfer, which was purely digital.
In spite ofthe imperfections, this is a rare show of which not many sources
are available, so I figured I'd spread it.

The Iguanas - s/t (1993)

I don't know the band, but they sound like some Latino NOLA>Big Easy>Tex-Mex>AfroCuban>old country rock 'n' roll band with dueling/dueting saxophones, congas, drums and guitars.  Quite eclectic and enjoyable, IMHO.

The Iguanas had some connection to Jimmy Buffett other than being on his label.  Maybe they opened for him or played the parking lot, can't really remember.  Thinking back I don't recall too many opening acts if any at all?

Notes:
This Jerry show has never circulated in any form - not even an audience recording.
According to the Jerrysite, they opened with Harder They Come. I cannot verify that
but it is not present on this recording. The only notable flaw on this recording
is a glitch at 8:32 into Russian Lullaby, during John Kahns bass solo with an
unknown amount missing. This is a mono soundboard recording that is very clean
considering the lineage.

After hearing this Rhapsody In Red over the Labor Day weekend, I had to have this.
It is truly off the hook with Jerry shredding up a storm! Check it out!
Thank you to Alan!
