What a terrible and
What a terrible and unconventional storm. Hurricanes normally hit Jamaica from the Southeast by. Kingston. Melissa approached the island from the Southwest. It devastated the island's primary agricultural area, it's "breadbasket", St. Elizabeth parish. It then swamped the western part of the island before barreling directly over Montego Bay in the northwest, the heart of Jamaica's tourism industry. We'll know more about specifics soon, but the scale of destruction and the impact on the economy and life in Jamaica will be immense.
A strong, resilient. and proud nation, in time they will recover and rebuild. For now, a wish for safety, food, water, and shelter to the many suffering.
