It was a rather subdued event yesterday, but an exciting game that ended with a rare walk-off Giants win (we tend to not have to get to the bottom of the ninth). The "Full" Moon Alice kicked things off at 6:15 with a 12 minute set of music followed by Sunshine Becker singing the National Anthem - and man did she belt it out! After that, the park did a pretty poor job of playing Grateful Dead music throughout the game as they have normally done in years past. The T-shirt giveaway however was the best yet, IMO. Anyway, a fun time was had by all........anyone else attend the game?

I was there, having bought
I was there. I missed the Moonalice bit, which was no big deal, but it's always nice and rather strange to see a band set up on the dugout playing live Grateful Dead music at a Giants game. My friend who had gone in earlier said, "I walked into a store today and bought marijuana legally, and I just saw a band at a Giants game set up on the dugout playing Grateful Dead music. How the world has changed."
Not knowing exactly how decisions are made about between inning music and such, it's still annoying that they don't do more during the game to feature whatever the promotional thing is each night. I figure it's probably something to do with money (as almost everything is) but I'm always willing to accept that it's just thoughtlessness & ineptitude, given that when they did play GD songs between innings they weren't Jerry songs - I heard Pride of Cucamonga & Sugar Magnolia. derp. Still, it was cool to hear those songs (and Phil singing!) at a Giants game.
I'm still loving the smaller crowds, but the lack of multitudes of dead heads & the goofy energy they bring to the GD/Jerry nights was noticeable. One of the more entertaining things about those games is watching the staff freaking out & running around busting all the weed smokers, and since they have minimal staff these days, and the ones they do have are mostly new and worthless, last night could have been a major smokeout (I did my part though).
The game itself was outstanding, with many exciting moments, multiple great defensive plays and an exciting finish. Thanks again to the Arizona Diamondbacks for being good enough to make the game exciting but bad enough to blow it multiple times.
It was also great to be able to give Madison Bumgarner, a true Giants hero, an extended standing ovation. Letting him leave was the right move, but I miss that guy. Hopefully, there will be Giants games in October this year, and we can remanence more about how great he was in previous post-seasons.
This great Giants season has been unexpected and amazingly entertaining. Even if they fade and there are no late-season/post-season heroics, it's been great fun to follow this team, and it's great to still have meaningful games in August & September, when normally it's all about football for me at this point.

I don't like alternative
I fucking hate alternative uniforms, but after seeing them several times those uni's are not nearly as bad as they could have been, and they're not nearly as bad in person as they are on TV. Plus, tickets for Tuesday night games are super cheap.
So...
GO TO THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(And if the fade comes it will be because of starting pitching, not the uniforms)
